Sports News at OLGC

What's happening in P.E?

The beginning of this term has been filled with lots of fun, with a strong focus on skill development. Both junior, middle and senior students participated in a range of assessments which explore student's Fine Motor Skills (FMS). Year 3-6 also had their first run for 2025 during the Beep Test! Well done to all student's for all your hard work, and for giving everything your best.

Further developing their FMS, P-2 classes have explored techniques and activities to develop and explore throwing and catching. Using different skills, students' participated in a series of mini-games each focusing on a specific FMS. A favourite amongst the junior cohort was 'Popcorn'!

Middle and Senior students have Gala Days fast approaching! Over the next few weeks students will unpack each of the sports, preparing them to compete amongst other schools and continue to master their FMS. The first sport we have begun unpacking is Newcombe Ball, which is a modified version of Volleyball. We look forward to sharing our developing skills at the Gala Days!

Run Club

A massive thankyou to George McMahon and the team at Briquettes' who hosted our OLGC Running Club for a hot-choccy and açai breaky earlier this term. It's been wonderful to see so many student's participating in the run before school on Wednesday's and we look forward to exploring more trails and varieties of runs this year! If you wish for your child to join 'Run Club' please ensure you complete the Operoo online.

Swimming Results

A big thankyou and well-done to all students who attended training sessions and swimming trials these past few weeks. You should all be proud of your hard work and amazing efforts! Thankyou again to all the parents who supported myself and the OLGC community, helping out at training and trials.

A congratulations to the following students who attended the District Swimming Carnival! Well done again to everyone that participated in the program.

OLGC is proud to announce we won the Small School District Competition and took home a trophy! Well done to all who participated, and again a huge thankyou to the parents that came down to Aquarena and assisted with time keeping, it was very much appreciated. Well done to the OLGC squad who made their way to Division Competitions recently. Despite swimming well on the day we did not progress through to the next round.
