STEM

(Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths)

To begin our learning in STEM this year, students worked on mini STEM challenges to explore what effective teamwork looks like. Students engaged in these challenges and then reflected on how working as a team helped them to reach their outcome. Some of the team challenges included:

Help Harry:

Year 1-2 students were asked to create a perch for Harry so that he could be safe in the classroom, there were a lot of amazing designs!

Year 3/4's explored working as a team to stack cups, however they were not allowed to use their hands and each team member had to participate.

Year 5/6's worked on creating a team pen. They were then given a secret word they had to try and write. All groups were successful as their peers were able to guess their secret word.

Additionally, the Prep students have been working on being scientists by using their five senses to notice change. Recently, students explored creating a tornado in a bottle and they were asked to predict and record which method helped to make a mini tornado occur.

Kind regards
