Visual Art

In the Art room this term, students are exploring the colourful, pattern-filled world of Yayoi Kusama. They will experiment with her iconic use of polka dots and vibrant colours, creating their own pattern-based artworks. Lessons will focus on how repetition and colour can transform simple ideas into bold, impactful art.
Year 5/6 Needle Felting
Year 5 and 6 students have started a dry needle felting unit, exploring colourful landscapes. Using a felting needle, they shape wool fibres to create vibrant scenes like hills, skies, and trees.
Year 3/4 Sculptures
Students have been exploring Yayoi Kusama's expressive flower sculptures. They first created their own versions using foil armatures, which they covered with colourful Magiclay to bring their vibrant floral designs to life. Finally, they added patterns and are starting to mount them onto a dotted base.
Year 1/2 Flowers
Year 1/2 students have been exploring Yayoi Kusama's flower sculptures. They created their own flowers by decorating paper plates, layering them, and cutting them into flower shapes, bringing their colourful floral designs to life.
