Pickleball Comes to KHS

We have been privileged to have Jo, Warwick, Chris and Deb from Macleay Pickleball visit KHS and show the students from Yr. 7 and 8 the skills associated with Pickleball.

It’s an interesting sport brought into Australia from America. As a professional Pickleball player there is a great opportunity to earn a lot of money. More than 70% of avid pickleball players are between the ages of 18 and 44. Since August 2022 there has been an 86% increase in players aged 35-44.

There are many clubs around Australia and Macleay Pickleball Inc at South West Rocks play their games on netball courts behind the Sports Centre, just next to the SWR pool. They are also hoping to run competitions in Gladstone – closer to Kempsey for all of you who live in Kempsey. Don’t hesitate to join and get the whole family involved.

They are looking for people to join the club and keen to support all new players.

They are especially keen to create a competition for teenagers. At KHS we are hoping to get Pickleball up and running in 2025.

Our students behaved like polite professional sports people when they were offered the opportunity to learn the basics of the game, the rules and the skills. I was proud to be able to coordinate the days for them.

To all the budding Pickleballers at KHS congratulations and thanks for your participation and the enthusiasm you showed. Jo, Warwick, Chris and Deb thought you were wonderful!!
