MORSE Michael James 28.07.1940 – 17.11.2024 (svc 1954-57)
Notified by his sister, Josephine, that Michael had passed away in November. Michael was from Burnie and was an outstanding footballer and cricketer. On leaving school, he moved to Melbourne where he commenced working with Shell and was looking forward to a VFL career with South Melbourne in the VFL. However, his football dreams were shattered when he was run over by a powerboat whilst swimming and lost a leg. Michael never married and his sister Catherine was by his side when he passed.
Michael was one of eight children in the Morse family – five boys and three girls. Two of his brothers, Tony (svc 1949-54) and Marcus (1956-58), also attended the College, while the two youngest brothers attended Marist College in Burnie.
