A Fishy Announcement

The Wednesday11 December edition of the Mercury carried a story by David Killick regarding the development of a new Tasmanian commercial sardine fishery. The Tasmanian government has committed $250,000 to explore the potential development. Institute of Marine and Antarctic Studies research estimates a biomass of 210,000 tonnes of Sardines in Tasmanian waters, predominantly in Bass Strait.

On leaving St Virgil’s Julian studied at the University of Tasmania from which he gained a Bachelor of Science (Hons.) focusing on Marine, Freshwater & Antarctic Biology. 

Julian’s father, Ian, is also an ‘old boy’ of the College (svc 1950-57).
