Grade 3 Report

Grade 3 Highlights
The Grade 3 children have settled into another wonderful term of learning! After sharing stories about our holiday happenings and taking some time to relax and recharge, we have been busy diving into a range of great learning experiences.
One of our highlights has been beginning our informative writing unit. Students have been researching topics including Preston Primary School and Australia, collecting interesting facts and learning how to transform their findings into engaging reports. Along the way, we have been familiarising ourselves with the structure and language features of this style of writing.
Our ICT lessons have connected with this learning, with students becoming enthusiastic researchers. A favourite activity was our around-the-world scavenger hunt, where students worked in pairs to track down the locations of some of the world’s most famous landmarks.
We have also started reading our new novel, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and everyone is already hooked. We cannot wait to discover whether Charlie is lucky enough to find a golden ticket to Willy Wonka’s mouth-watering factory!
In Science, we have begun exploring the world around us through our unit on living, non-living and once living things. Students have been investigating the features that help us identify and classify different objects while building their understanding of how living things grow, change and interact with their environments.
Well done to all of our Grade 3 students on such a fantastic start to the term. We are looking forward to the exciting learning experiences and special moments still to come.
