Principal’s Report

It has been another busy and rewarding month at ACPS, with plenty happening both inside and outside the classroom.

Thank you to all of our families who joined us for our recent Parent–Teacher Interviews. We place enormous value on the learning partnership between school and home. When teachers, students and families have a shared understanding of progress, achievements and next steps, we put our students in the best possible position to achieve their best. I hope families found the opportunity to connect with teachers valuable.

Our School Disco was another fantastic community event, with both sessions full of energy and plenty of impressive moves on the dance floor! A special thank you to our DJ, Benita, who had the students up and about with a great range of music throughout the night. It was wonderful to see so many students simply having fun together and enjoying being part of our school community.

Our Grade 5/6 students have also just returned from three terrific days at camp in Marysville. Camp provides such valuable opportunities for students to build independence, resilience and stronger connections with their peers and teachers. One of the things I am always particularly proud of when I attend camps and excursions is seeing our students at their best. They are respectful, conduct themselves incredibly well and represent ACPS with pride. They really are a pleasure to take away on experiences like this, and our Marysville camp was no exception. A huge thank you to Miss Buzzini, Mr Smith and Ms Hansen for organising and facilitating the camp and to our parent helpers Kane, Justin, Mark and Andy for their support across the 3 days. 

Back at school, our Secondhand Book Stall has been a wonderful addition to Book Week. A big thank you to Kate Misra for coordinating the stall and to the parent helpers who generously gave their time to support it. All funds raised going directly towards our school fundraising efforts.

And, of course, ACPS loves an event — and Book Week is certainly no exception! Today’s Book Week Parade is always one of the most colourful and enjoyable days on our school calendar. Every year I am blown away by just how fantastic the costumes are, the new ideas our students continue to come up with, and the creativity of families in helping bring those ideas to life. It really is a magical day at ACPS, and we greatly appreciate the time and effort our families put in to make it so successful. At its heart, it is also a wonderful opportunity to celebrate books, stories and the joy of reading together as a school.

School Review

Yesterday was also a significant day for ACPS as we completed our School Review. ACPS undertook only a one-day review process because we are classified as a high-performing school, based on our 2025 and 2026 learning and engagement outcomes. This is something our whole community should be very proud of.

Our review involved a panel of Department of Education staff, an experienced principal acting as our Challenge Partner, the ACPS Leadership Team, Volkan our School Council Vice President and an external reviewer facilitating the process. Throughout the day, the panel examined our learning and wellbeing data, visited classrooms to observe literacy and numeracy teaching, and spoke with students, staff and parents about their experiences of our school. A sincere thank you to the parents who joined our focus group, the students who shared their perspectives so thoughtfully, and our teachers for opening their classrooms and their practice to the review panel. Having different voices from across our community gives the panel a much richer picture of ACPS than data alone can provide.

While we will continue to work through the complete findings, the review provides a very positive snapshot of our school. Our students feel happy, safe and engaged in their learning; our staff are demonstrating high-quality teaching practice; and our improvement objectives are strategically taking the school in the right direction. 

Importantly, a school review isn’t simply about confirming what we are doing well. Its real value is helping us determine what comes next. We will now use the data, evidence and feedback gathered throughout the review to identify where we can continue to grow and improve. This will form the foundation of our new four-year School Strategic Plan and set the direction for the next chapter of improvement at Andersons Creek.

Together, we all work incredibly hard as a community to make ACPS a great place for our children to grow and learn. There is plenty for our community to celebrate, while continuing to look ahead at how we can make a great school even better. 

I am incredibly grateful to be both the Principal of our school and a family within our amazing community. Thank you to everyone for continued trust and support of myself and our school.
