On Tuesday 9th June in the PAC, Year 12 Contemporary Music 3&4 student Nadia performed an outstanding rendition of Billy Joel’s Piano Man, giving the classic song her own original, reimagined interpretation. Nadia demonstrated excellent keyboard skills, dexterity and coordination, while playing the piano and harmonica simultaneously. Her performance highlighted her developing musical performance skills and was delivered with the poise of a professional, earning her a huge round of applause from the audience.

Mid-Year Showcase

Our Mid-Year Showcase was a fantastic celebration of the talent, creativity and dedication of our students. On Thursday 11th June, families and friends gathered at The Memo in Healesville for an evening of music and entertainment, enjoying a diverse program that reflected the hard work and enthusiasm of our young performers. Having rehearsed their pieces since the beginning of the year, every student took to the stage with confidence and pride.

The showcase featured every student involved in the Music Program, including our Instrumental Music students and those from the Year 10 and VCE Music classes. The evening began with the Year 7 Beginner Bands, conducted by Ms Grinbergs, who delighted the audience with several short pieces they had been learning in class, including Ode to Joy, Shark and Old MacDonald Had a Band. Their enthusiasm and growing confidence set the tone for an enjoyable night of performances.

The program continued with an energetic set from the 8C Enrichment class, followed by impressive performances from the Intermediate Band and the Percussion Ensemble, whose lively rendition of The Simpsons theme had the audience smiling. The Choral Group brought plenty of fun with their quirky performance of If I Were a Fish, complete with the unexpected addition of kazoos, adding a playful touch to the evening.

The final section of the concert showcased the musical talents of our Year 10 class, the Jazz Improvision Band and The Pentatonics Senior Guitar Ensemble, each delivering engaging performances. The evening concluded with the Senior Band, who performed a selection of toe-tapping pieces, including highlights from Grease, offering a preview of this year's school musical production.

It was wonderful to see so many students embrace the opportunity to perform, demonstrating not only their musical growth but also their teamwork, perseverance and commitment throughout the rehearsal process.     A special thank you goes to our dedicated staff and music teachers, whose passion and hard work behind the scenes made the event such a success. We also extend our sincere appreciation to our families for their ongoing encouragement and support. The Mid-Year Showcase was a memorable evening that truly highlighted the vibrant spirit of our school community, and we are incredibly proud of every student who took part.
