Wellbeing

With winter in full swing, the shorter days and gloomier weather can sometimes leave us feeling low on energy and motivation. During this time of year, it can be easy for healthy self-care habits to fall by the wayside. At LHC, the Wellbeing Team aims to provide students with opportunities to engage in fun, creative activities that support overall wellbeing and connection.
Recently, we have introduced collaborative colouring, word searches and dot-to-dot activities on the wellbeing room windows. These displays are available for any student to add to as they pass by, offering a moment of fun and playfulness during the day, while also fostering a sense of connection within the school community.
Earlier this term, we enjoyed setting up a Wellbeing picnic rug at the Athletics Carnival, complete with craft supplies and games. It quickly became a welcoming hangout space for students between events and it was wonderful to see students beading, teaching each other how to crochet and meeting new people.
We also continue to run lunchtime wellbeing activities on Mondays and Fridays, so keep an eye on the Daily News for the next week’s activities. One recent favourite was working with air-dry clay — the colours and textures provided a wonderful sensory experience and it was fantastic to see students getting creative and letting their imaginations shine.
As we head into the colder months, we encourage all students to look after their wellbeing by staying connected with others, getting outside when possible, keeping active and making time for activities they enjoy. Small moments of creativity, connection and fun can make a big difference during winter.
