Congratulations
Debating
On Thursday 28th May, Hurstville Public School competed in the first round for the Premier's Debating Challenge against Beverly Hills PS. We have two teams - Hurstville Public Sapphires and Hurstville Public Hurricanes.
The Hurricanes debated as the Negative team for the topic, 'That all tests should be banned in primary schools'. Ellin (1st speaker), Evan (2nd speaker), Chloe (3rd speaker) and Alicia (Team advisor). They had fantastic arguments for the importance of tests to continue to exists in primary schools. Congratulations on their win!
The Sapphires also debated as the Negative team for the topic, 'That primary schools should have a four-day week'. Letisha (1st speaker), Charlotte (2nd speaker), Eden (3rd speaker) and Kayley (Team advisor). They had great rebuttals towards why the current system of 5 days of schools and 2 day weekends is ideal and should definitely not be changed. Congratulations on their win!
Well done to both teams for their knowledge and great teamwork. We look forward to their next round which will be held at Hurstville Public School next week. Stay tuned!
