Physical Education - Miss Atherton

This fortnight Grades Prep-2 have further explored the basics of golf, focusing on chipping a ball into the air using more force, and correct angles to hit targets in fun games. In PMP, these grades have also focused on working on fundamental movement skills such as controlled kicks, crawling, jumping and hopping, while learning and using the relevant language to support the mind and body connections during these movements.

Our 3/4 Grades also enjoyed fun golf activities to learn about different forces and angles while hitting golf balls more accurately. They also explored some fitness goals and completed some self-chosen fitness activities to work on these goals.

Our 5/6 Grades have continued their Bike Ed unit by exploring some stations that focus on a range of skills such as balance, coordination, and controlled speeds while assessing each other by recording distances and times.

The Arts - Mrs Anstis

Music: Prep-Grade 2 families, look out for an invitation to our performance at Assembly on Friday 6th November. Students will be performing their version of Cows in the Kitchen. They have been practicing and making props and instruments to accompany their singing.

Media Arts: Grade 3/4 are learning about animation and will be working towards creating their own stop animation video this term. Grade 5 students are beginning to write scripts to create a video demonstrating and teaching the school values in action. Grade 6 students will be interviewing each other on their Primary School memories and goals for the future in preparation for their Graduation. Everyone is excited to use our new microphones!

Visual Arts: Working with acrylic and watercolour paints, Grades 1/2 have created a bird's eye view of their fantasy island. Prep-1 students have made their own scratch art with oil pastels and acrylic paint. All students have been learning about line and pattern through these differing mediums.

Science - Mrs Lewis

This week a selected few amazing Year 5 and 6 scientists took part in the enrichment science session Extreme Engineering.

Students learnt new information from Dr Rebecca Morris, a Senior Lecturer and Marine Scientist at the University of Melbourne, and completed an exciting hands-on VCES workshop.  Dr Rebecca Morris shared how her work brings together different types of science to find smart, sustainable ways to reduce erosion and flooding, while also helping the environment thrive. In their hands-on virtual workshop, students explored how oyster reefs can protect coastlines while supporting marine life. Working in small groups, our awesome students learnt how waves impact shorelines and how “living breakwaters” made from oysters can reduce wave energy and erosion.

They did an amazing job building their reef models!
