Friday 27th March: Mass and First Reconciliation after at 11.30am

Reflection

Yesterday, the Church celebrated the Feast of the Annunciation, a cornerstone event in the Christian calendar. Falling traditionally on March 25th, this sacred day honours the moment the Angel Gabriel appeared to the Virgin Mary to reveal she would be the mother of Jesus.

As told in the Gospel of Luke, Mary’s faithful response—"Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word"—marks the profound beginning of the Incarnation.

Churches across the globe marked the occasion with special Masses, prayers, and reflections, drawing inspiration from Mary's resounding "yes." Her humility and obedience continue to serve as a beautiful reminder of God's love and the quiet power of trusting in His divine plan.

Prayer

Loving God,

You chose for your Word to become human

in the womb of the Virgin Mary.

As we truly believe that she is the Mother of God,

we ask that her prayers and intercession

may always guide and support us.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

First Reconciliation- tomorrow, Friday 27th March

We are delighted to share with our school parish community that eight of our students are in the last stages of their preparation program to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time tomorrow, after our celebration of Mass has concluded.

This is a profound and beautiful milestone in their spiritual journey. Over the coming weeks, these candidates will be learning about the importance of saying sorry, the power of forgiveness, and, most importantly, the boundless and unconditional love and mercy of God. It is especially fitting that they are undertaking this journey of reflection and spiritual growth during the holy season of Lent.

We wish Alfie, Harry K, Heidi, Campbell, Jack, Angus, Freddie and Thibaud all the very best as they undertake this meaningful preparation program. Our thoughts and prayers are with them and their families during this special time. We warmly invite our entire school community to keep these students in your prayers as they prepare their hearts to receive this beautiful sacrament of healing and peace.

“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” – Ephesians 4:32

Mass and Reconciliation on tomorrow at St Patrick's Catholic Church

On Friday, 27th March, the students and staff of St Patrick’s Primary School will come together to celebrate Mass for the final time this term. The celebration will commence at 11:30 am at the church, and we warmly invite all parents and members of our school community to join us in prayer and reflection.

Following the Mass, some of our students who are eligible will have the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, deepening their spiritual journey as we continue through the season of Lent.

We look forward to sharing this special celebration with our school community and hope to see many of you there.

Chrism Mass at the Cathedral in Armidale on the 31st March.

On Tuesday, 31st March, St Patrick's Primary will be represented at the annual diocesan Chrism Mass in Armidale. Mr Hyatt will be accompanying four of our students—Rebee, Josie, Hugh, and Flo—as we travel to Sts Mary and Joseph's Cathedral for this occasion.

The Chrism Mass is a significant event in the Church's calendar, gathering people from all over the diocese to witness the blessing of the holy oils that will be used in sacraments throughout the coming year.

It is an honor for our school to be invited to participate in this tradition. We know that Rebee, Josie, Hugh, and Flo will be ambassadors for St Patrick's.

Project Compassion

As Lent begins, we also launch the annual Caritas Australia Project Compassion Appeal. Contributions to this appeal allow Caritas—the Catholic agency for international aid—to partner with vulnerable communities globally to fight poverty, hunger, and injustice.

In the spirit of Lent, we are invited to show compassion through prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. To support this, every student received a Project Compassion donation box earlier in the week. We encourage everyone to contribute what they can to help create a better future for generations to come.
