VICTORIAN PREMIER’S READING CHALLENGE (PRC)

We are excited to announce that the 2026 Premier’s Reading Challenge is now open. This year, the PRC has the theme “Stories to Discover, Stories to Tell.” We are looking forward to many of our students completing the PRC.

The Premier’s Reading Challenge is a personal challenge for children to read as many books as possible. Students log completed books on the official website and those who complete the Challenge will receive a certificate signed by the Premier towards the end of the year.

The PRC website does not contain electronic books. Students must access books from our school library, local libraries, digital platforms or their home collection. Books read independently in class can also be added to their total.

Students in Grades 5-6 will log in and review their books using their Chromebooks. Teachers will show them how to do this. For students in Prep-Grade 4, parents should help their child log completed books. Once entered, books will be ‘approved’ by the classroom teacher before they count toward the student’s total.

To complete the challenge, students in Grades 3-6 need to read 15 books. For Prep-Grade 2 students, the challenge is to read or ‘experience’ 30 books with their families. This includes shared reading, listening and reading along with others. At least 20 of these books must be from the official PRC List.

On the PRC website, students (and parents) can:

● log completed books and track progress towards their goal

● search for their favourite books and view book recommendations

● earn digital badges when challenge milestones are achieved

● mark their favourite books, give them a star rating and complete a book review

To log in to the Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge:

- Visit: https://vprc.eduweb.vic.gov.au/home

- Click on ‘School Coordinator or Student’

- Select ‘VPRC Login’ - Enter the student’s Username and Password

The closing date for this year’s challenge is September 4th but finished books must be added to the website by Monday, 31st AUGUST to allow time for teachers to verify them before the platform closes.

Students can include all books that have been read since the beginning of the school year.

All students have been registered and classroom teachers will send home login passwords. If you have any other questions about the 2026 PRC, please contact your child’s classroom teacher.

HAPPY READING!
