The Year 12 Cohort was lucky enough to visit the Careers Expo at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre on Friday the 2nd of May. This experience was truly beneficial for all and allowed us to speak to a variety of vendors about future pathways. The majority of universities had representatives there, as well as TAFE and other further education institutions. There were also some well-known stalls, such as ADF, Ambulance Victoria, and Victoria Police, along with stations for ATAR notes and even Schoolies.

They also provided a variety of lectures, on everything from English to Biology to study habits. My highlight from the trip was being able to talk to some universities that I hadn't even heard of. It was definitely an amazing experience for us, as we start to think about now next year looks for us, and for those interested in tertiary education, it was a great opportunity to look into courses and consider preferencing.

I was also lucky enough to be part of the Beaumaris State Swimming Team, who headed to state championships at MSAC on the 1st of May. This experience was amazing, getting to be in such a competitive atmosphere and proudly representing our school. Even though only six students attended, we managed to place 5th out of all the schools in the state, and every student attending won a medal. Thank you so much to Mr Pinto for his hard work in organising our team and coaching on the day.

Hello, once again, Beaumaris Secondary College community. The school year is well underway as we enter Term 2 and the winter months ahead. Many of our student leaders assisted in running our school's Open Night earlier last week. Our role included giving tours of everything we have to offer, from our Performing Arts specialisms and opportunities to our Healthy Lifestyles. We also shared our insights and personal experiences from our time at Beaumaris. A personal highlight for me was seeing every single aspect of our school, something that I don’t normally get to see. As students, we truly are very fortunate to attend Beaumaris.

Here in the Year 12 cohort, ‘SAC season’ is approaching for a lot of students, and we are all ‘locked in’. In my eyes, it has been amazing and very motivating to see everyone take a step up with their studies. Many students take advantage of lunchtimes and even breaks to get some extra study in, as well as using their study periods effectively. The learning environment we are creating is one that will definitely help us when exams come around.

The journey is a long one for us Year 12’s and some days feel longer and more draining than others. However, we all know the end is near. We don’t have an awful lot of time left here at Beaumaris, but I can see that many of us are using our time really well and making it valuable.

From my behalf, I hope you're all keen to embrace the winter challenges that lie ahead, as well as stepping out of your comfort zone.

Hello everyone, I am Chris, and I am the Year 8 Captain.

On April 30th, the Year 8 Summit Camp began. It was an amazing experience, building relationships and facing fears. The camp was a blur of happy memories including the giant swing, the leap of faith, the summit window, jump free, laser tag, the Snowy River Challenge, and the mud run.

Apart from having a bit of fun, the camp was very much focused on building character. It included a lot of activities that might not have been in your comfort zone, designed to stretch you. This links to one of the camp’s mottos ‘Get comfortable being uncomfortable.’ It was also about giving it your all and not going home wondering, 'What if?'

Last week, on Tuesday, we had the College Open Night which was a great chance to show off our school to new families joining our Beaumaris community. Firstly, everyone who helped on the night did an amazing job and should be proud of themselves. It was great walking through and seeing what the college has to offer in the years to come for me as well.

Thank you for reading!
