So far this term, Year 9 and 10 students went on an excursion for Snapshot on the 1st of May, taking photos in various city locations to showcase how backgrounds can enhance the photography process for an advertisement.
Our talented Instrumental Music students showcased their musical skills during our Open Night on the 6th of May, adding a special touch to the evening.
The Year 12 VCE 3/4 class had a gallery visit on the 7th of May, visiting the Australian Centre of Contemporary Art (ACCA) and Buxton Contemporary Gallery, where they received seminars directly related to their Unit 3 AOS 3 SAC Curate: Connect, Design and Propose.
This week, the remaining Snapshot students embarked on their excursion on the 12th of May which you can read about on the Year 9/10 Snapshot page of this newsletter.
Coming up, next week (Week 5) is StringFest on Wednesday, the 21st of May. Government school students from all over the south-east region of Victoria will be attending StringFest, hosted by Beaumaris Secondary College. The event gives students the opportunity to benefit from a wide range of string experts and repertoire. Students will experience a day’s intensive training and the chance to network with like-minded students from other schools. Liz Freemantle, Head of Strings at St Margaret's School in Berwick, will guest conduct the event.
In Week 6, the Year 12 VCE 3/4 Theatre Studies class will be watching the performance of "The Birds" at the Beckett Theatre - Malthouse, with a Q&A with the actors in connection with Unit 3, Outcome 3 for Theatre Studies: "Analysis and Evaluating Theatre". This play has been selected from a prescribed list published by VCAA and is a requirement of the course.
Later this term is Arts Week (Week 9, Wednesday 18th June - Week 10, Wednesday 25th June), featuring activities such as art challenges and competitions, karaoke, theatre games, and - everybody's favourite - Battle of the Bands.
