OUR NEW SBAT STUDENTS || Congratulations to Campbell T and Joshua L from Year 11 for signing up with Head Start to begin their School Based Apprenticeships (SBAT). OPEN NIGHT SUCCESS || A huge thank you to our College/Year Level Captains for their inspiring speeches, to our Instrumental Music students for their wonderful performances, and to all our student tour guides, staff and parent volunteers for showcasing and celebrating The Beaumaris Way last night. It makes us incredibly proud to receive such wonderful feedback about our students, staff and the college. A special thank you to the many prospective families who joined us! 

WEDNESDAY 7 MAY 2025

MONEY & MARKETS FIELD TRIP || Our Year 9 & 10 Money & Markets students took part in a guided walking tour of the local area, exploring several properties that had either been recently sold or were currently for sale. This hands-on excursion aimed to enhance their understanding of the housing market and the factors that influence property prices. Prior to the tour, students analysed online data for each property, enabling them to make informed observations during the tour. They will now apply their learning by estimating the potential selling prices of properties coming up for auction. This practical experience offered valuable insights into real-world market dynamics.

BUSINESS MANAGEMENT IN ACTION || Our Year 12 Business Management students visited the kitchen today to explore operations management and discover the most efficient and effective ways to bake a cake, using the tools of their choice!

THURSDAY 8 MAY 2025

EXPLORING RICKETTS POINT: MARINE SANCTUARY EXCURSION || As part of their Marine Sanctuary specialism, students explored Ricketts Point this week, investigating human impacts as part of their Term 2 PBL. They studied the impact of introduced crab species, beach litter, stormwater drains and nurdles on our sanctuary.

TOY & CHILDREN’S BOOK DRIVE TO SUPPORT THE CANCER COUNCIL || Beaumaris Secondary College’s Year 12 Vocational Major students, in partnership with The Beaumaris Children's Playhouse, are raising much-needed funds for the Cancer Council—and we invite you to contribute! 💛🌼

 

As part of the Biggest Morning Tea, our students are running a Toy/Book Drive. You can donate second-hand toys (clean, not broken, no button batteries) and children’s books. These items will be available for a small donation upon entry to the Morning Tea, with all proceeds going to the Cancer Council. Any unsold items will be donated to the Beaumaris Children's Playhouse.

 

📍 Drop-off point for donations: Reception at Beaumaris Secondary College

 

📅 Donations will be accepted until Friday 30 May.

 

Families of the BSC community are also invited to attend the Biggest Morning Tea, which will be held at the Beaumaris Children’s Playhouse on Monday, 2 June from 10am to 12pm. $5 entry per family and all funds raised will be donated to the Cancer Council.

 

Let’s come together for a cuppa, a cause, and a community that cares. ☕🎁

DO IT FOR DOLLY DAY & SPREAD KINDNESS || Dolly’s Dream Australia is dedicated to empowering and educating communities to prevent bullying. This week, as part of our wellbeing group program, students created kindness butterflies, committing to spreading kindness to others and practicing self-kindness.

 

At our recent Open Night, guests also joined in creating kindness butterflies. Our students and staff will continue to contribute to our ‘Kindness Wall’ in reception and reflect on further acts of kindness they can engage in.

 

A big thank you to Lisa O’Loughlin Counselling for helping us to facilitate this meaningful initiative for our students.

MONDAY 12 MAY 2025

GOAL BBQ BONDING || Today, our Year 11 Beckett GOAL students enjoyed a BBQ as part of their GOAL session. It was a fantastic way to build social connections and positivity, creating valuable bonding experiences and shared responsibilities!

TUESDAY 13 MAY 2025 

ROAD TO ZERO EXHIBITION || Our VCE Health and Human Development students had an insightful day at the Melbourne Museum's Road to Zero exhibition today! They gained valuable insights from experts about key concepts covered in Units 3 and 4, including the Ottawa Charter for health promotion, applying its principles to real-world issues like road safety, and the role of health in achieving Sustainable Development Goals. A fantastic opportunity to prepare for their VCE studies while engaging with real-world health promotion strategies!

TUESDAY 13 MAY 2025 

WORKING BEE AT BCP || Yesterday, our Year 12 VCE Vocational Major students rolled up their sleeves for a productive working bee at Beaumaris Children's Playhouse (BCP) as part of their ongoing community project! They tackled a range of tasks, including hanging shelves to create a new reading area, refurbishing the racetrack, painting the brand new sandpit, and designing murals for the art room and an outdoor area, making a meaningful impact in our community. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this fantastic effort! 

TUESDAY 13 MAY 2025 

JAPANESE DAY FUN AT BEAUMARIS PRIMARY! || Our Year 9 and 10 Japanese students had a great time at Beaumaris Primary School’s Japanese Day, engaging primary school students with a range of fun and interactive Japanese activities during lunchtime! These included Origami, Animal Shougi, Kendama, Japanese Dance, Wanage, the Chopstick Challenge, Hiragana Karuta, Anime Drawing and Fukuwarai. It was a wonderful opportunity to share Japanese culture and build connections with our local primary school community.

BAYSPEAK || Congratulations to our Year 9 students, Hugh W and Scarlett K, for their outstanding performance at Bayspeak last night! They represented our college with pride, and once again, we proudly upheld our reputation as the only government school present. Well done, Hugh and Scarlett!

MATHS METHODS WORKSHOP || Our Unit 3-4 Maths Methods students had the opportunity to learn from guest speaker Ariel Tenenberg about mathematical investigations in preparation for their upcoming SAC. Ariel achieved a perfect score of 50 in Maths Methods when he completed his VCE. A valuable session to support their studies!

WEDNESDAY 14 MAY 2025

YEAR 7 BEST MAGIC! || Our Year 7 students were spellbound in BEST recently as they explored changes of state. They witnessed a demonstration of iodine being heated to generate a beautiful gas directly from the solid.

YEAR 10 COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS || Our Year 10 Community Connections program is off to a great start, with students exploring a range of exciting options like community gardens, environmental projects, primary school connections, and more. Through hands-on volunteering and projects, they’re making a real impact while developing valuable skills for the future.
