Spreading Kindness at Beaumaris

Last week, as part of our Wellbeing program, students participated in Do It For Dolly Day, a meaningful initiative supported by Dolly’s Dream, which you can read about on Our Latest Facebook & Instagram Posts page of this newsletter. The focus of the day was to empower students to spread kindness and raise awareness about preventing bullying.

Our growing ‘Kindness Wall’ outside reception serves as a visual reminder of the importance of kindness in our school community, and our students and staff will continue to reflect on ways they can contribute to a culture of kindness.

A big thank you to our Wellbeing team for organising this initiative and to Lisa O'Loughlin Counselling for her support in facilitating it. The significance of kindness cannot be overstated, and it’s a value we continue to cultivate throughout our school community.

Open Night

Beaumaris students, staff and families once again proved themselves as exemplary ambassadors of The Beaumaris Way during our successful Open Night on Tuesday, 6 May. With an estimated turnout of 600 attendees, the evening was a testament to the wonderful school we have built together—one that thrives on community spirit and collaboration. Many thanks to everyone for their invaluable contributions, and a special acknowledgment to Sarah Keating for her outstanding organisation. The exceptionally positive feedback from families and visitors reinforces our commitment to our CORE values of Curiosity, Optimism, Respect and Excellence.

National Careers Week

This week, in celebration of National Careers Week, we would like to highlight the fantastic work of our Careers Team: Mr Jack Crameri, Ms Andy Farrow, Ms Stephanie Martin and Ms Jody McCarthy, as well as our comprehensive Careers program. By providing up-to-date information and working collaboratively with students, our Careers team helps students make informed decisions about pathways within school and their future beyond Beaumaris Secondary College.

Education Support

Tomorrow (May 16), we will celebrate Education Support Personnel (ESP) Day, recognising the pivotal role played by our dedicated support staff. From our Learning Support staff, Lab Technician, Food Tech Assistants and Library Manager to the Administration, Wellbeing, IT and Maintenance teams, and beyond, their contributions are indispensable in supporting our students, teachers and families on a daily basis. They are the archetypal quiet achievers of our school, and we are truly fortunate to have such a wonderful team here at Beaumaris.

National Volunteers Week

Next week is National Volunteers Week (19 - 25 May), and I would like to acknowledge the invaluable contributions of our parent volunteers. From assisting at Open Night to supporting extracurricular activities and events, your contributions enhance our students' educational experience and strengthens our school community.

Student Attitudes to School Survey

In the coming weeks, we will conduct the annual Attitudes to School Survey. This survey is a crucial tool in gauging student perspectives and refining our college systems and programs to ensure a positive and enriching learning environment for all.

Big Science Competition

Congratulations to the Year 7 - 10 students who participated in the Big Science Competition on Monday. This global online challenge tested their scientific knowledge, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills against state and national benchmarks. Thank you to Carly Doyle for organising this enriching opportunity for our students.

2025 Curriculum Contributions

Thank you to those who have made their 2025 Curriculum Contributions or opted into a payment plan since our last reminder. Your support continues to enrich the educational experience for our students. You can also read about the impact of the 2024 Curriculum Innovation Contributions and how they’ve benefited our students.

If you haven't finalised your contribution or opted into a payment plan for your children's 2025 Curriculum Contributions, we invite you to do so. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps make a meaningful impact. To make your contribution, please log into Compass or contact the school office for details on payment options. Contributions to the Building and Library Fund are tax-deductible.

Curriculum Day (Student-free)

A Curriculum Day will be held on Thursday, 22 May. Please note that students are not required to attend school on this day, and there will be no scheduled classes or supervision.

Thank you for your ongoing support as we continue to foster a school environment where every student can thrive, feel safe, feel connected and belong.
