The School Council plays an important role in helping shape the strategic direction of South Melbourne Park Primary School and ensuring that our students have the best possible learning environment. The Council works in partnership with the Principal and staff to support the school’s priorities, oversee finances and contribute to initiatives that strengthen our community.
Our School Council consists of four staff members and seven parent representatives and meets ten times each year. Much of the detailed work is undertaken through four subcommittees – Finance, Events & Fundraising, Wellbeing, and Environment & Facilities.
Through Council and our sub-committees, we have celebrated some solid achievements in Semester 1 2026 including:
In addition to many smaller behind the scenes accomplishments, many of which would not have been possible without the support of our broader school community and volunteers.
Being involved in School Council is a great way to contribute to the school community, have a voice in important decisions and gain a deeper understanding of your child’s school experience, which can help strengthen their sense of connection and belonging.
We warmly invite all parents and carers to attend the Annual General Meeting (AGM), on Wednesday 29 July at 6.00 -7.00pm in the Staff Room. If you are interested in gaining a deeper understanding of the school’s performance or considering joining Council or a sub-committee in the future or simply learning more about how it works, we would love to see you there.
