Child Safe Standards – Standard 7: Speaking Up Matters

At Resurrection School, the safety and wellbeing of every child is our highest priority. As part of Victoria's Child Safe Standards, Standard 7 ensures that all schools have child-focused processes for responding to complaints and concerns.

You may have noticed new posters displayed around our school encouraging children to speak to a trusted adult if they ever feel unsafe, worried or afraid. These posters reinforce an important message—that every child has the right to feel safe and to have their voice heard.

We want every child and family to know that if something doesn't feel right, it is always okay to speak up.

A child-focused complaints process means:

• children are listened to respectfully and taken seriously
• families know how and where to raise concerns
• concerns are responded to promptly, fairly and thoroughly
• the safety and wellbeing of children remains the priority throughout the process.

We encourage students to talk to a trusted adult if they are worried, upset or concerned about their safety or the safety of someone else. This might be their classroom teacher, a Learning Support Officer, the Wellbeing Team, Deputy Principal or Principal. Families are also encouraged to contact the school whenever they have a concern about a child's safety or wellbeing.

By working together, we create a school community where children feel safe, respected and heard.
