Sport at BSC

Sports Highlights:

After a big semester of sport and a couple of near misses in the inters and seniors, our Year 8 boys were able to bring us a couple of wins.

Our soccer boys went through the PASE term undefeated. They went into the three way finals play off with Sandringham and McKinnon with lots of confidence, a big 3-0 win against Sandringham and a draw with McKinnon was enough to see the winner’s pennant make its way to Brighton SC and a chance to play in the next round in August.

Not to be outdone were our dedicated Badminton team made up of Sasha Rees, Lewis Thorp, Renny Thurlow, Mike Wang and Thomas Nguyen.  A three way final with Westall and Sandringham beckoned, and after an easy win against Sandringham 5-1, we played the hot favourites and undefeated Westall. This time we were able to reverse the result from the previous encounter and took the win and pennant 4-2.

A huge thank you to our coaches of the Soccer and Badminton Mr Martinek and Mr Trytell.

SMR Cross Country

Brighton SC took a small and dedicated squad to the Region Finals for Cross Country. Tokoa Bishop who usually runs half marathons went down in distance to tackle the 5km course. He eventually finished in 32nd with a time of 20.27.

Our two female competitors Mia Davies and Sienna Woloshenko both ran incredibly well. Mia ran a time of 12.44 to finish 9th in the girls 16 section whilst Sienna ran an outstanding 4th place in the 12/13 age group in a blistering time of 11.59.

Well done to both girls as they have qualified for the State Finals next term.

Yours in Sport,

Rob Stevens
