St Joseph's Northcote - 130 years - A faithful Past, Present and Future.

I would like to thank all the families who joined us to celebrate the 130th anniversary of our Parish last Sunday.  As a part of the Mass, the children stood on the Sanctuary and sang our school song - which has received accolades from the parishioners and visitors to our church for this special event.  Thank you to all of our children who performed so beautifully!

I would also like to thank Bernadette (our Religious Education Leader) who prepared the Mass and Maria Ang (one of our parishioners) who set-up a wonderful historical display in the multi-purpose room.  It really was a great morning that many parishioners, past and present, and school families attended.

Below is a sample of some of the historical photographs of school classes that were shared on Sunday - St Joseph's Primary School, late 1890s-early 1900s.

School Closure Days

Yesterday I sent out an email and Audiri notification explaining that the school will be closed on Cup Eve November 06 - I apologise that this date was omitted from the School Calendar.  Each year we would normally use this day as a staff report writing day, however this year it is classified as a 'Time in Lieu' day, in accordance with the new Enterprise Agreement.

Monday, October 23, is also a school closure day.  We will be working onsite and the staff will be:

  • updating our First Aid training, including Asthma and Anaphylactic Training
  • completing the Mandatory Reporting compliance and the annual Occupational Health and Safety learning modules
  • participating in a session facilitated by Kate on HITs - High Impact Teaching Strategies
  • begin the report writing process.

Our final closure day for the year will be on December 01.  On this day the staff will be planning for 2024.

World Mission Month

SOCKTOBER

In recognition of 'World Mission Month', Bernadette Harney has organised a whole school activity to support the global work of the Church to support children in communities in need around the world.

On Wednesday, October 25 children may wear 'BRIGHT SOCKS' to school, and we are asking for a gold coin donation - the coins will be placed inside the outline of a large sock, that will be drawn on our basketball court - we hope to fill our sock!

SAVE THE DATES...
