Term 2
A warm welcome back to all our students, staff, and community members as we begin Term 2. The first few weeks have been action-packed and there are still plenty of exciting events and opportunities ahead!
ANZAC Day At Watsonia RSL
Our Concord School Captains, Vice Captains and Upper Primary Leaders represented our community at the Watsonia RSL ANZAC Day service.
In our SRC meeting in Week 1, our SRC representatives collaborated to make poppies and handprints. These were then arranged to make a beautiful wreath for the Upper Primary Leaders to lay at the ceremony. The Year 12 Captains lay a floral wreath to remember those who have lost their lives serving Australia in wars.
Lest We Forget.
Sirens and Smiles
Last week students on both the Watsonia and Bundoora campuses participated in the Victoria Police community engagement initiative called Sirens & Smiles.
Sirens & Smiles is a mobile, hands-on program designed to build positive, respectful connections between Victoria Police and the disability community. The aim is to break down barriers, reduce anxiety, and create meaningful, enjoyable interactions with police in a relaxed and supportive environment.
Smiles and Sirens was a big hit with all our students with lights flashing and plenty of excitement! It was a great hands-on experience all around. Students met X, the black lab detective dog, tried their hand at fingerprinting and chatted with a Victoria Police detective while rotating through a range of interactive activities. The PORT team gave everyone an up-close look at life in law enforcement. A few students and staff even had the chance to hop on a highway patrol motorbike! The Victoria Police team were friendly, helpful and more than happy to answer lots of questions.
ES Day – Friday 15th May
Education Support staff, including teaching assistants, administration staff, allied health and wellbeing teams, along with our café manager and the IT and maintenance team, are all integral to providing high quality education and maintaining a safe learning environment.
Education Support Day is celebrated each year to recognise the important contributions these staff members make to education. Concord School is looking forward to celebrating and acknowledging our wonderful Education Support staff next week.
