Principal's Report

Term 2
Welcome to Term 2! It has been wonderful to see students return with renewed energy, ready to embrace the learning and opportunities that the term ahead will bring.
This term, we continue our focus on supporting student engagement and wellbeing across all campuses, ensuring every student feels connected, supported, and challenged in their learning.
Our Year 7/8 students are eagerly looking forward to their upcoming school camp, which will be a fantastic opportunity to build independence, teamwork, and friendships.
Looking further ahead, we are also excited to welcome families to our Education Week open morning across each campus. Further information will be shared via Compass—please keep an eye out for updates.
We value the strong partnership we have with our families and encourage you to connect with your child’s teacher or campus team leader, if you have any questions or would like to discuss your child’s learning throughout the term.
Recent Highlights
We have already had some fantastic experiences across the school. A number of our students proudly represented Concord at the SSV State Swimming Championships, demonstrating determination, resilience, and sportsmanship at a high level.
We also enjoyed a visit from Victoria Police as part of the Sirens and Smiles program. This was a wonderful opportunity for students to engage with emergency services in a positive and supportive environment, helping to build confidence and community connections.
Student Attitudes to School Survey
The Attitudes to School Survey (AtoSS) is an annual student survey offered by the Department of Education to assist schools in gaining an understanding of students' perceptions and experiences of school. Students will be asked about their thoughts and feelings in relation to their school, their learning, peer relationships, resilience, bullying, health and wellbeing, physical activity, and life in general.
This year, the AtoSS will be conducted at our school from 11th May to 12th June for students in Years 4–12.
Participation in this survey is voluntary. If you do not wish for your child to participate, please opt out via email to the school at Matthew.DiDomenica@education.vic.gov.au before 11 May, including your child’s name and year level.
Australian Education Union (Victorian Branch) – Industrial Action
The Australian Education Union (AEU) has advised the Department of Education of further industrial action commencing from Monday 20 April. This includes a range of work bans, such as limitations on meetings and other workplace activities.
At this stage, the planned half day stop work actions have been temporarily suspended by the Union for a two-week period, until 15 May, as negotiations continue in a positive direction.
Concord’s previously scheduled half day stop work was set for Thursday 28 May. Based on current progress, we are hopeful that this action will not proceed. However, we would like to make families aware of this date in the event that industrial action resumes.
We appreciate the understanding and support of our families as we continue to navigate this period of industrial action and will keep you updated as needed.
Principal’s Award - Sienna 9/10D
Sienna has shown wonderful growth in her confidence and willingness to participate in class. She is making a strong effort to give her best in all activities, speaking up more often and beginning to stand up for herself in a positive way.
Sienna’s determination to step outside her comfort zone and contribute during class discussions is something to be proud of, and she is a deserving recipient of the Principal’s Award.
Thanks
Matthew Di Domenica
Principal
