Disability Inclusion at Concord School

Gallery Image

The photo above was taken during a Disability Inclusion Profile meeting at our Bundoora Campus last week. The meeting included the student, their parent, the classroom teacher, and the facilitators.

The student joined the meeting for a short time at the beginning, which is an important part of the process. To support this, we carefully prepare students beforehand, often using a social story and, where helpful, offering a visit to the meeting room prior to the meeting so they know what to expect and feel comfortable.

The photo captures a moment where the teacher and student were chatting about the student’s interests and aspirations. This “student voice” component typically takes place at the beginning of the meeting and is a valuable opportunity for everyone to gain a deeper understanding of the young person as an individual.

Having both the student and their parent involved was a meaningful part of the process, as it allowed us to talk about and celebrate the young person and their strengths together.

If your child requires a Disability Inclusion Profile meeting, you will be contacted by Stacey or myself.
