Junior School Update

Dear Families and Students,

As we approach the end of Term 3, it is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the many rich learning experiences, special events and achievements that have made this term so memorable.

Year 3/4 Beechworth Camp

The Year 3/4 Beechworth Camp was undoubtedly a highlight of the term. On their first ever school camp, the students fully immersed themselves in the history and stories of the region, particularly exploring the life and legacy of Ned Kelly. Visiting significant historical sites provided students with authentic opportunities to connect their classroom learning with real-world experiences. Throughout the camp, students demonstrated resilience, independence and teamwork while building friendships and creating lasting memories. 

Some of the activities on camp saw students: 

• Trying their luck at gold panning
• Exploring the historic Beechworth Gaol
• Diving into the story of Ned Kelly and the Kelly Gang
• Taking part in courthouse trials
• Solving the Mystery of Morse at the Telegraph Station
• Exploring the Burke Museum
• Getting creative with a cartoon workshop
• Enjoying some bush music with Lazy Harry

We were incredibly proud of the way these Year 3/4 students represented our school and embraced every aspect of the experience. A big thank you to the staff who attended this camp and helped make it such a fun and memorable experience for our students. 

AsheFest Activities

This term also saw students enthusiastically participate in a range of engaging AsheFest activities. A particular highlight was the opportunity for students to learn and play traditional Indigenous games, including Buroinjin. These activities encouraged teamwork, communication and an appreciation of Australia's rich Indigenous heritage. Students thoroughly enjoyed challenging themselves through a variety of physical and cultural experiences while developing respect, collaboration and sportsmanship.

Year 5/6 Wax Museum

Another major highlight was the Year 5/6 Wax Museum in Week 9. Students worked diligently to research significant historical figures, prepare informative presentations and bring history to life through their costumes and displays. The event showcased not only their knowledge and presentation skills, but also their creativity and commitment to learning. Thank you to the many parents and family members who attended to support this memorable celebration of student achievement.

Consolidating Learning Across the School

Throughout the term, students across all year levels have continued to consolidate their learning, building confidence and strengthening their understanding across key curriculum areas. It has been pleasing to see students applying their knowledge, developing independence as learners and taking pride in their progress. The foundations laid throughout the year are preparing students well for a strong finish to 2026.

Looking Ahead to Term 4

As we look forward to Term 4, we are excited to commence our Swimming Program. Swimming provides students with valuable opportunities to develop water safety skills, build confidence and improve their fitness while participating in enjoyable and engaging lessons. We know students are looking forward to this important part of our Term 4 program.

A Final Message

We are incredibly proud of all that our students have accomplished and the positive attitudes they bring to school each day. We wish all families a safe, restful and enjoyable holiday break and look forward to welcoming everyone back for an exciting and productive Term 4.
