Principal Report

Dear Heathmont College Community,

Currently, our College Principal, Kerryn Sandford, is on the Central Australia Tour so today's report is written by myself. Kerryn and the tour party left Melbourne last Saturday and currently enjoying some hot weather (36 degrees!) while cruising through Katherine Gorge. From all accounts, the students are having a great time, and you can see some photos sent through here - Central Australia Tour . We look forward to their arrival home next Tuesday and wish them the best for the remainder of the tour.

Term 3 has been a busy one! There have been a lot of school activities and events for the community to enjoy. Firstly, a huge congratulations to the College for what was a perfect Athletics Day. In particular, thanks and congratulations must go to Victoria Butler and Andrew Wright for the organisation of the whole school event. Despite having to postpone due to extreme weather, the Athletics Day embodied the House Spirit and College Values. The students were extremely well behaved and clearly enjoyed participating in the many events on offer. Many Heathmont "world" records were also broken and well done to Monash House for being the winning House.

The Performing Arts team have been busy this term. Most notably with the Music Extravaganza concert and State School Spectacular. Personally, I had the pleasure of attending the Music Extravaganza and it was such an honour to see so many talented students performing. Well done to all involved. The Performing Arts team have also been rehearsing "The Crucible" and the College musical, "Mamma Mia!" which will be performed next term.

Earlier in the Term, the works were completed on our new Gathering Circle. To commemorate the occasion, the College hosted Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony  was facilitated Aboriginal Elder Aunty Zeta Thomson and her daughter, Simone Thomson respectively.

Next term, we wish Assistant Principal Nina Ling well as she takes Term 4 off for a well-deserved break. The entire College community will miss you and everything you do.

We wish all our Year 12 students the very best heading into their last part of secondary school life. Whatever or wherever their pathway journey leads them, we hope they have an enjoyable final break. We certainly extend warm wishes to the rest of our community in having an enjoyable break as well.

Today, we finished on a high with the College "Colour Explosion". This fundraising event is always a hit with staff and students alike. Apart from the couple of photos below, we'll have more details in the next edition of the Gazette. Until then, we wish all of our students, staff and families a safe and enjoyable break. We look forward to seeing everyone back on Monday 7th October for the first day of Term 4.
