VICTORIAN SCHOOLS MERINO WETHER CHALLENGE

On the 25th of August, our school proudly participated in the Victorian Schools Merino Wether Challenge (VSMWC), providing our Food and Fibre students with an outstanding hands-on learning opportunity. The challenge is designed to give students practical experience in the wool and sheep industry, allowing them to develop their knowledge of animal husbandry, sheep management, wool production, and the factors that influence livestock performance.

Throughout the day, students had the opportunity to observe and assess Merino wethers, engage with industry professionals, and gain valuable insights into the agricultural sector. The event encouraged teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills while highlighting the important role that the wool industry plays in Australia.

While the weather certainly kept us on our toes, our students handled the conditions exceptionally well and represented the school with pride, enthusiasm, and professionalism. Their willingness to participate, learn, and take on new challenges was a credit to themselves and our school community.

It was a long but incredibly rewarding day, and seeing the students actively engage with the competition, ask thoughtful questions, and broaden their understanding of the food and fibre industry made the experience completely worthwhile. We are very proud of their efforts and look forward to participating in future agricultural learning opportunities.
