House Leader Reports

Kororoit

What a year! So much has happened in the blink of an eye, and we have accomplished so much together as a house! We vowed to take home the 3-for-3, and whilst also taking many other endless victories that are too long to list 😁😋. Regardless of our wins/losses (but mostly wins), we hope that you all take this year as the beginning of trying new things and remain open-minded to even greater success in the future!

Before the new transition to the 2025 Kororoit leadership team, here are some final words from your current team!!

It truly has been the year of the dragon. All the efforts you have put in has really added up to make this year such a success. The amount of spirit and domination you have shown has been unmatched and you should all be so proud of yourselves and each other. Let’s keep this fighting spirit thriving for the remainder of this year and into the years to come!

  • Ashlee and Christian (Year 10 and 11 Vice)

We really did it this year huh! Even though it happened like 4 months ago, it still feels like a dream. I’m super grateful to have such amazing support from the whole house and to be able to work with our super cool, talented musicians. You’ve all made my role 10x easier. I hope that you’ll bring the same energy next year, I know Sam has bright ideas in store. Another shout out to Savita, Audrey and everyone who helped with the arrangements, I couldn’t have done it without you. It’s been the biggest pleasure to be your Chorals Captain, so thank you once again.

Meet me in the valley where the kids collide into the morning,

  • Dinda Widya Murti (Chorals)

As I step down from house sport captain. I'm incredibly proud of what we have been able to accomplish, especially having triumph in the swimming and athletics carnival. To Ben who will be Kororoit sport captain next year he is a highly regarded sportsperson and I'm confident that he will bring even more positive energy than I have this year.

Signing off

  • Nathanael (Sports)

I’ve tried my best to stay #humble with all our successes in the initiatives domain this year, but unfortunately winning intermediate debating, senior debating, house chess, and clean up cory is a feat that speaks volumes on the dedication and talent of our house. Thank you for an incredible year, Kororoit, I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way – it’s been a privilege to serve as your Initiatives Captain.Until the next chapter,

  • Sahnan Saini (Initiatives)

THANK YOU and HUGE CONGRATULATIONS for your participation and efforts in the arts program this year!! I’m SUPER proud of what we’ve achieved and our performance was by far THE BEST I had ever seen!! From taking home the very first House Dance competition, to winning people’s choice in House Art and to placing a solid second in House Drama (with Devised snatching first place 😋)?!! Thank you so much Kororoit for an incredible year đŸ«¶đŸŒ I look forward to seeing y’all grow your artistic talents next year as the arts program begins to expand!!

  • Jasmine â€ïžâ€đŸ”„ (Arts)

It’s been an absolutely AMAZING year. Well done to everyone who participated in House events, and to all of you who worked behind the scenes to ensure their success !! We’re all so proud of you and the sheer Kororoit spirit you brought throughout the year, securing us a win in almost every event ! Truly one of the most incredible comebacks of all time - KNOCK US DOWN, BEAT US UP, WE’LL STILL WIN AND TAKE THAT CUP 🏆!!

Take care of yourselves and enjoy the rest of the Year of the Dragon đŸ”„đŸ‰!!

Stay awesome :)

  • Meredith Hau (Wellbeing)

Our successes this year have truly been unmatched both in terms of the other houses, and in terms of the history of Kororoit. Even though we haven’t run any events specifically for the house cup, your enthusiasm and dedication has been seen through the many side quests that we’ve put together. THANK YOU SO MUCH to all the Kororotians who have attended our random ahh events and made them as exciting as they are.

Best of luck to Ajay and Riya for the future, and to Bea and Leroy continuing as next year’s SRC.

Your 2024 Kororoit SRCs,

  • Ajay, Bea, Leroy and Riya (SRC)

Well Kororoit, the year of the dragon is almost over - and as the end approaches, the both of us want to thank you for all the incredible memories, energy and triumphs you all have given us throughout the year. We’d like to say huge thanks to Ms Nguyen, Ms Stathopulos and Mr Duckworth for giving their blood, sweat and tears (literally with Ducky), in supporting Kororoit and making everything possible!

This year has been a tough competition, but regardless of the obvious (🏆) outcome , it was an amazing run with all the other houses! We can’t wait to hear about the next wave of Kororoit greatness, and given our new 2025 leadership team, we’re sure that you all are gonna kill it😆!!

Signing off one last time, and forever #humble,

Leyna and Metheshr (& your 2024 leadership team)Â â€ïžđŸ‰

Blackwood

Another simply stunning year has finally come to a close, and we’ve achieved so much together in 2024!! Of course, we’ve had our spectacular triumphs and narrow heartbreaks, but regardless of the results, we’ve been so proud of your efforts, determination and perseverance!!!

We’d like to thank our 2024 leadership team, Rachel, Michaelangelo, Siya, Caitlin, Keyara, Sam, Emma, Rama, Diya, Marley and Vignesh, who’ve worked super hard to accomplish the success we’ve had this year!! As we take the time to reminisce over swimming, athletics and chorals, let’s aim to go one step further in 2025!!

We’d like to congratulate those in our 2025 leadership team, whether they be new faces or returning members. To Rachel, Rishit, Michaelangelo, Harshita, Hiumi, Annelise, Zyna, Phineas, Gurleen, Namira, Diya, Tim and Eric - your talents are immense, your dedication to Blackwood unparalleled, and we know that Blackwood is in safe hands with you :)

As your wise house leaders, we’d like to take this opportunity to give a few parting words of wisdom -

To the Year 9’s, as your first year comes to a close and the classrooms don’t seem quite so foreign anymore, use these holidays to rest, recover and expand the horizons of your knowledge. Find your study/life balance to make sure you don’t burn out, and try to make a headstart on your subjects next year to ease some of the pressure you’ll face. To the Year 10’s, can you believe that half of your journey’s already over? As you close out Term 4 and move into Year 11, be aware that VCE does get challenging. And remember you don’t HAVE to finish the entire methods layout over the holidays, take some time for yourself :)To the Year 11’s, there’s no sugarcoating this. Next year will be tough, no doubt, but trust your abilities and focus on your strengths, and above all, enjoy your camp, formal and make sure to make the most of your last year, cheesy signs, cool sunnies, give everything a go!

To the Year 12’s, we’ll leave you with a message from Mr Moden:

As your journey at SCHS comes to an end, I want to take a moment to wish each of you the very best of luck with your upcoming exams. You've worked incredibly hard to get to this point, and now it's time to show how much you've grown.

Remember, exams are just a stepping stone to the amazing things you will accomplish in the future. Stay confident, trust in your abilities, and approach each challenge with a positive (growth) mindset - Year 9 Primus Program anyone?

Take care of yourselves, lean on your friends for support, and don't forget to celebrate how far you've come.

Knight to Knight, Together We Fight!

So, as our time comes to a close, we wish to end this wonderful year by echoing the words of the United Kingdom’s 55th Prime Minister,

Hasta la vista, baby.

Lots of Love, Wiltberg Haway, Harguan Kaur and your 2024 Leadership Team

Rothwell

As this year comes to a close, it's hard to believe how many memories we’ve made and precious moments we’ve shared together as a house. Rothwell has always been the family house ever since our beginning and it's no wonder why, especially as our distinct Rothwell spirit that embodies unity and strength has only shone brighter with each house event.

Let's take the swimming carnival for example. Seeing so many students proudly sporting yellow costumes whilst cheering their heart out for their friends who were competing was truly so heartwarming. More so, the enthusiasm of students who pushed themselves outside of their comfort zone by getting involved and even replacing their friends in their events made the event all the more memorable.

This year’s recap simply wouldn’t be complete without mentioning our iconic athletics carnival. Although we had some historic wins like the Year 12 relay teams and dazzling outfits, as we always do, what set apart this year’s athletics from the rest was undeniably the sheer passion of our house chants. The atmosphere was truly electric as the deafening sound of our Rothwell pride seemed to drown out all the other noise and will always be remembered as one of our best chants. Chorals was another example of the strength of our collective passion as a house, in which the collective force of every Rothwellian voice combined created a truly powerful performance. Whether it be the hours the ensembles spent in rehearsals, the immense work contributed by  our chorals team or the Rothwellians’ enthusiasm during the mass, we can safely say that none of it would have been possible without our combined efforts.

Looking into the future, for the year 9’s and 10’s, you have most of your schooling journey to go, but you’ve already had ample time to soak it all in and learn how we do things here. Take up those informal roles, step out of your comfort zone, and explore new things. Whether it turns out to be what you expected or not, you won’t regret it! For the year 11’s, you’re going to be the leaders of the school next year, so keep up the participation and stay connected within the extracurricular space- what makes Cory truly unique are our many opportunities to participate in non-academic activities, even in our senior years.

To our year 12’s, this is the final stretch. We have just ten school days remaining! Make the most of it, and really enjoy your time with your friends. Focus on your exams, but don’t focus too much! Everyone has their own balance, and it’s ultimately up to you to find your own. Make sure to take regular breaks, connect with friends and engage in activities to promote your wellbeing to ensure you can perform to the best of your ability on exam day!!

Ultimately, as we pass the role to Arthur, Olivia, and the rest of the leadership team, we know that the Rothwell spirit will shine brighter than ever next year. For every Rothwellian, remember that leadership is not about titles, but about the positive impact you have on those around you. Keep pushing boundaries, chasing your dreams, and lifting each other up.

In the wise words of our own chant:

HAND IN HAND, WE WILL GROW. WITH ONE VOICE, TEAM YELLOW!

With lots of love,

Anjali and Malakai 💛🩅

Cottrell

As we approach the end of an incredibly fast-paced year, it’s time to write our final report for 2024. We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all Cottrellians for exemplifying true house spirit throughout the year. Your hard work and dedication have made leading this house a truly enjoyable experience. Let’s just look at what we’ve had this year!

We kicked off the year with a sensational dip in the waters at MSAC. It was spectacular to see all the numerous people trying their best out in the water, regardless of their skill level. Seeing such house spirit and passion so early in the year was something truly remarkable and exciting! We were so proud to see all this energy and enthusiasm.

Our second event of the year was athletics, in which we saw so many people participating. You all participated in the mini competition, continuous relay, track events and/or field events and showed your house spirit throughout the day. Our chant was amazing, especially with Miss Guastella’s incorporation of a dance, winning us house spirit. We were so proud of each and everyone of you giving it your all!

Chorales were nothing short of amazing. Everyone put so much time and effort into our ensembles, with a special shoutout to Finlay Maltby, Keethana Karthik and Vijval Jain for taking initiative and leading the small choir and drumline respectively. Not to mention the multitude of rehearsals throughout the week in which we had people attending up to three rehearsals in one day! Not to mention the mass singing. Each and every one of you in the Cottrell house gave it your all and I could see your smiling faces standing up and conducting you. Thank you so much for all your hard work and passion into our house chorals competition.

Then along came the final major competition. Two teams of students, one given a script, and the other given a theme and some stimuli. Both teams had to work on what they were given to provide a stunning performance to blow the judges away. As the first performers of the night, it was a tough crowd for us to break into. Laughs and cheers were tough to generate, but it was still fun and excellent nonetheless. As one of the performers on the night, I was fortunate enough to see the energy and passion that filled the house team. The culmination of numerous months of meticulous planning, practising and revising that was presented on the night was a sight to behold, and the ambience afterwards was truly spectacular.

In between all of this, there were numerous smaller events that ran, ensuring that house spirit was always on the rise. House Dance, Intermediate and Senior Debating, Clean Up Cory, and House Sports are just a few of the competitions that we were able to participate and enjoy. A massive shout out to our truly special leadership team who we, without their constant support, could not have run this year as well as it went. Thank you so much for your efforts this year. We're so grateful to have had you all onboard this year. Next on the list are our amazing Heads of House, Miss Guastella and Miss Tizzani. Without your spectacular support this entire year, nothing would have run as smoothly as it did. And last but not least, thanks to the entire house!! Without your constant support and participation, nothing would have even been possible. Your energy and participation was nothing short of astounding this year, and seeing what you all did has filled our hearts with admiration and pride.

Once again, we thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for such an amazing year, and we hope that from the ashes rising up, Cottrell will come for the cup !! đŸ’ȘđŸ»đŸ’ȘđŸ»

Signing off with lots of love, one last time. Your House Captains,

Lilliana and Khathab :)) 🩚💚
