The students found it a vaulable experience to connect with peers who share the same passion for the world we live in.

Outreach Mentoring Program with Mossfiel Primary School

On 20th August, 10 of our Year 9 students embarked on an exciting half-day excursion to Mossfiel Primary School as part of our Outreach Mentoring Program. This event marked the second Leadership Day of the program, providing our students with a valuable opportunity to engage in a collaborative coding project with 50 enthusiastic Year 5/6 STEM students from Mossfiel.

Throughout the four lessons, our Year 9 students worked closely with the primary students, guiding them through the process of coding and helping them build an impressive project. The atmosphere was vibrant, with both groups of students actively participating and enjoying the hands-on learning experience. Our students took on the role of mentors, establishing strong rapport with the younger students and honing their skills in facilitating and guiding a project from start to finish.

This experience was not only enjoyable but also educational for our Year 9s. It served as a valuable trial run for the actual Outreach Mentoring Program set to take place in Term 4. The day concluded with a session back at our PD Centre, where the students were briefed on the timeline and agenda for the upcoming program, ensuring they are well-prepared for the mentoring roles they will take on.

We are incredibly proud of the leadership and dedication our students demonstrated during this excursion, and we look forward to seeing the continued growth and success of the Outreach Mentoring Program in the coming term.

A Magical Week of Celebration: Book Week Dress Up and Open Mic Performances

In week 6,  the school was buzzing with excitement as we hosted a variety of engaging activities in celebration of Book Week. The highlight, without a doubt, was Friday’s spectacular Book Week Dress Up and Open Mic performances, where students truly embraced the theme: Reading is Magic.

Our students showcased their creativity and love for reading through their enchanting costumes. From beloved book characters to fantastical creatures, the school was transformed into a magical world filled with vibrant personalities. The effort and imagination put into each costume were truly inspiring, with students of all ages bringing their favorite stories to life.

The Open Mic performances added another layer of excitement, providing students with the opportunity to share their talents with the school community. Whether through song, spoken word, or dramatic readings, the energy and enthusiasm on stage were contagious.

A huge thank you to everyone who dressed up, performed, or supported throughout the week. Your participation made this year's Book Week celebration truly unforgettable. As we continue to celebrate the magic of reading, let’s remember that every book opens the door to a new adventure, and the stories we immerse ourselves in can inspire creativity, spark imagination, and take us to new heights!
