Monash University Accounting Case Competition
On the 14th of August, we had the incredible opportunity to represent Suzanne Cory in Monash University’ Accounting Case Competition. This state-wide competition required teams to develop a fundraising event, with supporting comprehensive financial information, in order to support the non profit organisation, Mums Supporting Families in Need. We were successful in qualifying as 1 of 6 finalist teams to present our proposals to Monash Business School’s Department of Accounting and an expert panel, including members of MASA (Monash Accounting Student Association), BAP (Beta Alpha Psi), and a representative from the charity MSFIN.
We were thrilled to take the victory, coming first place in the competition! Despite facing tough competition from AT Academy, Whitefriars College, and Overnewton Anglican Community College, we stood out, and distinguished ourselves to claim the victory due to our in-depth analysis, thorough research, uncovering overlooked elements, delivering a well structured and clear presentation, and even providing additional financial statements to support the MSFIN charity. This feat wouldn’t have been possible without the invaluable support we received from Mr Domas, our teacher supervisor throughout the entire project and on the day of the competition. We’re also grateful to Mr Bourke for his guidance on our final report. Finally, we’d like to thank Monash University for their hospitality and providing this amazing and unique opportunity to compete and showcase our accounting knowledge.
