Year11 have had a fantastic start to 2026 and their VCE and VCE VM studies, kicking off with our Orientation Week activities in the first week back.  Our excursions to the KWR pool, Treetops in Belgrave and to Deakin University (for our VCE students) saw students reconnecting with each other and their teachers, as well as getting inspired to get stuck into their VCE programs and to begin to think about their goals as they move into the final stages of their schooling.

Our VCE VM students have been beginning their VET courses and their Structured Workplace Learning placements on Wednesdays and Fridays, and it has been great to see them embracing the challenges that these bring. Likewise, our VCE students have risen to the challenge of their first formal Student Assessed Coursework (SAC) tasks, with many subjects having their first assessments as we hit the middle of Term 1.  Keep an eye on Compass to see results coming through!

In assembly this week, we have reiterated to students the importance of attendance and in particular punctuality.  We appreciate support from home to ensure that your child arrives to school on time and prepared for class.  We also acknowledged those students who have been recognised by their teachers for consistently showing our school values of connection, respect and growth.

Mr. Olden, Ms. Capacete and I have started implementing our new mentor program, which allocates all Year 11 students a teacher mentor here at school.  Students are meeting with their mentors to discuss their goals and experiences as they move into the Senior School, and it has been a privilege to have the time to speak to students one-on-one.  These conversations allow us to get to know students and to support them in an individualised way.  Parents are welcome to contact their child’s mentor if they have any questions about the transition into the Senior School.

We acknowledge that while the move into the Senior School brings about many exciting new opportunities, it also can bring about feelings of stress and anxiety for some students.  If you feel that your child needs some additional support, please reach out and let us know.  We encourage families to communicate regularly with us so that we can support our students fully.
