Year 7 Report

Year 7 Phillip Island Adventure Camp
The annual Year 7 Camp at Phillip Island Adventure Resort was a huge success! 140 students attended and enjoyed an exciting, adventure-filled experience packed with fun outdoor activities. One standout highlight was canoeing, during which students demonstrated excellent teamwork and cooperation. The pool was another favourite, offering the perfect opportunity to relax, cool off from the humid weather, and enjoy swimming and water games.
Students also took on thrilling challenges such as the twin flying fox and giant swing, showing great courage and a willingness to step outside their comfort zones. Evenings were just as memorable, with speeches to select our Year 7 leaders on the first night, trivia, movies, and a night walk led by our resident Phillip Island expert, Mr Sturgess, all creating plenty of excitement among students. Overall, the camp was the perfect mix of adventure, teamwork, and fun, leaving everyone with lasting memories and a great sense of accomplishment.
A huge congratulations to all our Year 7s for showing the Koo Wee Rup Secondary College values of:
Connection – building friendships, working as a team, and supporting each other. Respect – for the environment, their peers, and themselves.
Growth – stepping out of their comfort zones and embracing new experiences.
Whole-School Assembly Year 7 Report
Congratulations to Kalani Griffiths, one of our Year 7 students, who delivered a speech to the entire school at our first whole-school assembly about her experiences commencing at KWRSC. She was incredibly brave, and we are very proud of her efforts. Below is her speech from the assembly.
My name is Kalani, and I started Year 7 this year at Koo Wee Rup Secondary College with 150 other Year 7 students.
We began our Year with Orientation Week, where we met all our new teachers, learnt more about the school, set up our laptops and started to get to know a new group of friends.
My experience at Koo Wee Rup Secondary College has been amazing so far and I am really excited to keep experiencing new classes which we didn’t get to try in primary school.
All the students have been really kind to Year 7 students, which has made us feel welcome.
