Shrek the Musical

On the 12th March most of the cast of this year’s Secondary School production, ‘Shrek’, headed off to Her Majesty’s Theatre to see how the professionals do it. We saw a fantastic production of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ and as well as thoroughly enjoying the show, everyone learnt a lot about the finer points of performing in a big production.

Although the special effects were out of our league, it was great to see the 100% commitment of every performer, no matter how large or small the role. I doubt very much whether any of the chorus members of ‘Beauty and the Beast’, who played multiple roles and performed with such energy and pzazz, told their friends ‘I only have a small part’! There was lots of singing on the way home (until Mr Forrest told everyone it was time to give it a rest!) and if the buzz on the bus is anything like the buzz on stage when the curtain goes up in August for our production of Shrek, it will be enormous fun for everyone!

Planning is well underway for the Secondary Production of Shrek The Musical, set to take the stage from August 13th–15th, 2025! 

As we prepare for this fantastic event, we invite parents, guardians, and the wider MECS community to express their interest in supporting the production.

There are many ways to be involved, both big and small. We know that we have many talents and giftings in our community and we would love to provide the space for those to be shared. Productions like these provide a wonderful opportunity to connect with the school community, support students in their creative journey, and be part of something truly special.
