Ms D Principal Message

As Semester 1 draws to a close, we have a lot to celebrate as a school community. Our school continues to thrive academically, as reflected in our recent NAPLAN outcomes and student growth, while also providing a high level of support for social and emotional development. None of this would be possible without the continued care, dedication and professionalism of our staff, who go above and beyond for every student, every day - thank you. Alongside this, we are fortunate to offer a range of additional experiences for our students, including excursions, camps, incursions and soirées, to name a few. It certainly has been a busy semester. I hope all our students take some time over the coming winter break to rest and recharge for Semester 2.
I would also like to thank my "Principals for the Day," who have supported me in my work so far this year. It's exciting to see so many students collecting tokens for demonstrating our school values and positive behaviours, which they can trade for the opportunity to be Principal for a day. My list for Term 3 is on its way.
Parent-Teacher Interviews
Thank you to the families who attended the parent-teacher interviews today. These interviews are a great opportunity to celebrate your child's learning and growth over Semester 1. While the school report gives us a picture of each child's academic growth, the parent-teacher interviews allow us to discuss the areas that aren't captured by a progression point.

Classroom Snapshot
This week I had the chance to view some outstanding writing from our Year 1 students. Over the term, they've been learning about different animals and writing information texts. The students were so proud to come and share their work with me. I was blown away by their ability to apply taught writing skills — including correct sentence structure, varied vocabulary and sentence starters, and the use of technical language to demonstrate their factual knowledge of the topic. Their handwriting was outstanding too.
On yesterday's tour, prospective families saw our Prep students engaged in daily literacy instruction and were impressed by their spelling. One student even explained, "This word has a double consonant at the end because…" The tour group was so impressed they asked whether the lesson had been rehearsed — it certainly hadn't! We simply hold high expectations of our learners.
