Upcoming Events for Students and Families
Families of students in Years 6–10 are warmly invited to attend our Secondary Expo Evening on Thursday 2 July 2026, from 6:00pm to 7:30pm in the new Year 9/10 Centre!
Join us for an inspiring evening as you explore a wide range of student-led displays, including artworks, projects, live performances, and food experiences. This is a wonderful opportunity to see learning in action, connect with our dedicated staff, and experience the vibrant culture of our Secondary School community within our exciting new space.
We look forward to welcoming you as we celebrate and showcase the incredible work our students have created this year.

DCS is committed to being a child safe school for our students. Each year we hold our Volunteers and Parent Helpers Course for our class parent helpers and volunteers working with our students. Parents, family members and volunteers who wish to volunteer at the school in any capacity or coach a DCS sports team are required to sit the ‘Working with Our DCS Students’ session.
These sessions are held to induct our parent helpers, and any volunteers, who wish to assist in our classrooms and around our school in 2026. As a school that is committed to protecting our students and has zero tolerance to child abuse, it is mandatory that any volunteer or parent helper in our school attend this induction session. It is important a volunteer or helper attends this course every 12 months.
We will be holding a Volunteers and Parent Helpers Course next Friday, 3rd July at 9:00am in the Year 9/10 Centre Conference Room. If you need assistance finding the conference room, feel free to contact our friendly admin team who can direct you there.

Our student Senate leaders heard from Andy and Rachel Carden in last week's Primary and Secondary assemblies, and would like to encourage our school to support the Carden family as they prepare to serve in the mission field.
Andy and Rachel Carden, with their children Imogen and Samuel, will, God willing, move to Vanuatu in the middle of 2026. After learning language and culture, they will serve in discipling and theological education at Talua Training Theological Institute on the island of Espiritu Santo.
Students are invited to wear casual clothes and bring a gold coin donation on the last day of term to support the Carden family and the Church Mission Society. If you would like to support the family individually, further information and resources can be found here:

DCS Community is delighted to let you know that we have complimentary coffee and hot drinks available every week from our Jiloa Café during assemblies on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8.20am-9.00am.
For our Secondary parents, you are also more than welcome to come down and visit us at the Jiloa Café as well for a warm drink!
We look forward to seeing you there!

We are delighted to inform you that Devonport Christian School will be participating in the world-renowned ICAS Assessments again this year.
What is ICAS?
ICAS is an online academic competition that gives students the opportunity to challenge their higher order thinking and problem-solving skills in English, Mathematics, Science, Writing, Spelling Bee, and Digital Technologies. Every student who participates is celebrated and recognised with a printed certificate in each subject area, and an online results report to track development each year. Top performers are eligible for ICAS medals.
We encourage you to consider entering your children in Years 2 to 10 into ICAS this year. The assessments are suitable for students wishing to extend themselves academically and take up the personal challenge of competing in a world-renowned international assessment. Your child will be presented with high-quality, expert-developed questions, allowing them to apply their learning without the need for prior study or revision.
You may nominate and pay for your child to participate in any or all of the following competitions. Please note that Writing is not available for Year 2 students and we are not offering Spelling Bee or Digital Technologies for Year 8, 9 or 10 students.
