RCM Lunchtime Concert

Term 2 Week 3

The third instalment of the Lunchtime Concert Series, Brass and Beyond, took place on Thursday, May 15, at St John's Anglican Church, offering a rich and resonant celebration of brass music. A talented ensemble of local professional musicians - Tamara Spencer and Andrew Heap (trumpet), Ivan Simac (trombone), and Emilie Wendt (French horn) - performed an engaging program composed and arranged especially for brass quartet.

The concert filled the historic church with bold fanfares, smooth harmonies, and playful rhythms, showcasing the versatility of brass instruments in both traditional and contemporary styles.

Audience members, including students, were thoroughly impressed:

“I loved how the brass instruments blended. It felt magical,” said Claire.

Johanna appreciated the mix of styles: “I liked the variety of pieces. Overall, it sounded great.”And in a particularly poetic take, Boadicea shared, “The instruments sounded like angels were playing through the instruments!

With its uplifting atmosphere and exceptional performances, Brass and Beyond was a beautiful reminder of the power of live music to move and inspire. A big thank you to the musicians and organisers for bringing such a quality performance to the heart of our community, completely free of charge.

Stay tuned for more lunchtime concerts to come!
