CSSA Secondary State Volleyball

Term 2 Week 3

On Tuesday, May 13, 28 of our high school students left for Sydney to participate in the CSSA State Volleyball Competition, run by CIS. This was the first year we stayed for two days, which allowed students the opportunity to have 4 teams participate. These teams included the Open Girls, Under 15s mixed, Open Mixed and Open Boys teams.

All the teams had been keenly practising with Mr Cunningham’s expertise and were very excited to see what they could do! Matches were won across the two days, and the Open Girls won every match to make the semi-finals. Unfortunately, they lost to the team that won the Grand Final. It was a fantastic match to watch with great sportsmanship on show when both teams huddled together for a group cheer!

Some highlights of the trip included:

  • Seeing teams praying together before playing.
  • Bus trip worship and karaoke.
  • Students encouraging and supporting each other in matches.
  • Our more experienced older players assisting our younger players' development.
  • Our students doing a great job refereeing the games over the 2 days.
  • Improvement in students’ skills and success over the last few years.

Well done to our students! We are so proud of you and look forward to next year’s competition.

Mrs Johnson, Mr Gyles and Mr Harrison.
