We have been learning about shapes. The octogon is shaped like a stop sign and has lots of sides. Hexagons have 6 sides and octogons have 8. Triangles are a 2D shapes, they can be uspide down, or some can be taller or stretchy, but they are all still triangles because they have to have three sides. We played a kind of a musical statues with shapes.

We have been reading Dr. Seuss in our class, which has led to all kinds of wonderful examples of creative writing and rhyming.

This week we will be starting to look at onomotopoeia, or 'sound effect words'. If you have ever seen a Batman cartoon with the word 'POW' written in large, multi-coloured letters, then you have seen onomotopoeia.

This is all, of course, just an excuse to have a lot of fun doing some creative cartooning with the kids. In a week or so, I am hoping they will have some fabulous cartoons to show us....

ANZAC Day

Jack, Rubi and Maggie represented the school at the Woodend ANZAC Day commemoration. Rubi and Maggie did a wonderful job reading a poem, while Jack laid our school's wreath.
