Art Term 2

For art this term, all classes are exploring printmaking artists and techniques, including, found object, relief, collagraph, stencil and mono printing. Geography will underly our topics: connection to place and people, the built environment, natural landforms, the weather and caring for our environment.

The F/1 class will begin the term, learning about leaf rubbings to create a collage, followed by collagraph printing of their home, relief printing about the weather, and finally mono printing of ‘my family’ inspired by Young Indigenous Printmakers.

The 1/2/3 class’s first project will be creating a collagraph plate of a place that they have a connection to, inspired by artist Suzie MacKenzie. The following project will be using a relief plate printing technique, based on maps of the local area, influenced by First Nations artist Simone Thomson. Later in the term, the students will complete mixed media mono printing with found objects of First Nations Seasons. Finally, the students will explore stencil printing inspired by artist Anna Warren and the natural landform of Hanging Rock.

The next project will be relief printing inspired by Jimmy Pike and weather maps. Finally, the students will complete a reduction relief print of a Bogong Moth.

PE Term 2

We've been successful in gaining a Sporting Schools grant for this term where we will be learning the skills of lawn bowls (later int he term). This will be something different for many of our kids, I wonder who has any hidden talents waiting to be uncovered!

We've been practicing for Cross Country, particularly the younger students learning to jog rather than sprint.

We'll also be learning trapping, kicking, dribbling and control of the ball for soccer. With the more senior classes, a focus on tactics and gameplay - finding space for your team mates to pass to you in preparation for Cobaw District Soccer in a few weeks time. For the juinior classes, more of a focus on skill development. We'll transition through other sports with kicking for all classes, for example kick ball and AFL. Hopefully by the end of the term we have some master kickers!!!
