National Simultaneous Storytime 2026: 

Luna Roo: Kangaroo Baller

Last Wednesday 27th, our Junior School (preps to grade 2) participated in National Simultaneous Storytime, a fun nationwide event in which schools all over Australia read the same book on the same day. This year’s book was Luna Roo: Kangaroo Baller.

The kids had a lot of fun cheering on Luna and her team in the library as we read the book. They also got to show off their knowledge of football/soccer terminology and skills, which they’ve been learning about with Mrs Oakley and Ms Lange in PE over the past few weeks.

Some comments from the kids:

“My favourite bit was when the snakes were strikers.”

“I liked it when Luna stopped the goal from going in.”

“My favourite part was when Luna helped her team feel better in half-time.”

“I liked the two galahs who were talking about the match.”

“I would like to be a goalie because they don’t have to run around much.”

“I really liked the pictures at the start that showed the whole soccer pitch and all the teams.”

“I liked it when Bush United won the match!”

Coming in Term 3: MS Readathon 

This August, Kalinda is aiming to raise $500, and read 500 books with the MS Readathon. That’s just over one book per student!
