Ringwood North District Cross Country

On Tuesday 19th May, 60 students represented Kalinda Primary School at the District Cross Country event held at Quambee Reserve. These students earned the opportunity to compete after their strong performances at Kalinda’s House Cross Country.

The course was challenging, steep hills and uneven terrain. Students in the 9/10-year-old age group completed a 2km course, while the 11-year-old and 12/13-year-old students ran 3km. Despite the wet and cold conditions, all students applied great effort and tried their absolute best throughout the day.

Congratulations to the following students who achieved outstanding results at the event and have now qualified for the next level of competition at Division Cross Country:

Emmet G – 7th place

Eddie P – 10th place

Ryder D – 1st place

Zac M – 9th place

Ashton P – 12th place

Maroondah/Manningham Division Cross Country

On Tuesday 2nd June, a group of Kalinda students competed in the Maroondah/Manningham Division Cross Country at Yarra Glen Racecourse.

Due to the wet weather, the course had to be changed and included some tricky terrain, including sections of sand, which made for a challenging run. Despite the conditions, all our runners put in fantastic performances and should be extremely proud of their efforts.

A huge congratulations to Ryder, who finished in an outstanding 8th place and has qualified for the Regional Championships.

Eddie and Emmett also ran brilliantly, finishing 14th and 15th respectively, with just one place separating them at the finish line. Zach and Ashton both performed strongly as well, finishing in the middle of their respective fields.

With more than 100 competitors in each race from schools across the division, these are excellent results and a reflection of the hard work and determination shown by all our runners.

Congratulations to Ryder, Eddie, Emmett, Zach and Ashton on representing Kalinda so well. We wish Ryder all the best at Eastern Metropolitan Regional Competition this week!
