Campus Principal

As the colder weather settles in and winter well and truly makes its presence known, it is hard to believe we are already approaching the end of another busy term. Despite the chilly mornings, our students and staff have continued to embrace the opportunities on offer, making the most of their learning, community connections, and experiences both in and out of the classroom.

Over the past six weeks, students from our VPC and Middle Programs enjoyed a trip to the big smoke, spending the day exploring ACMI, taking in the vibrant artwork of Hosier Lane, and of course, fitting in a little shopping along the way. It was a fantastic opportunity for students to experience some of Melbourne's cultural attractions while building confidence and connections outside the school environment. 

Our Bridging Program students recently visited the Tech School, where they explored virtual reality technology using VR headsets. It was a great opportunity to experience innovative learning in a hands-on way.

We are also pleased to report that our ramp upgrade project is progressing as planned. These important accessibility improvements are expected to be completed by the end of the second week of Term 3, and we look forward to seeing the finished result.

As we head into the new term, we are excited about our upcoming NAIDOC Week celebrations. Alongside the college-wide activities, our FLO community will be hosting its own event during Week 2. These celebrations provide an important opportunity to recognise and celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. 

This term also marks a significant milestone for two of our students, Alyssa and Tysan, who will be returning to mainstream education. We congratulate them on this achievement and thank them for their contributions to our FLO community. We wish them every success as they continue their educational journeys and embrace the opportunities ahead.

At the same time, we are looking forward to welcoming several new students to our program over the coming weeks. We are excited to get to know them, support them in settling into our community, and help them achieve their goals.

As the term comes to a close, I would like to thank our students, families and staff for their ongoing support and commitment throughout the semester. I hope everyone enjoys a well-earned break, stays safe, stays warm, and returns refreshed for another exciting term ahead.
