Celebration of Learning in Grade 3/4

In Mathematics, we explored factors as part of our multiplication and division unit. We enjoyed playing Salute, a fun game that helped us develop our understanding of factors, products and fact families.

During Inquiry and Religion, we made connections between the parables of Jesus and First Nations Dreaming stories. We discovered that both share important lessons about values, relationships and how to be good people.

We created a Kindness Tree and explored how one small act of kindness can create a ripple effect. As we learnt, "Kindness is like a boomerang – if you throw it often, it comes back often."

In Inquiry, we have been learning about First Nations Peoples before and after colonisation. We researched different Nations across Australia, including the Gadigal and Wurundjeri Peoples. We enjoyed learning about the land, culture, people and languages that make each Nation unique.

We have been watching some of the highlights of the Commonwealth Games and learning about some incredible athletes.  We researched an athlete and created a class slide show about them!

Complimentary Little Angler Kit

This week all Grade 5 students at OLA received an exciting gift from the Victorian Government's Little Angler Kits Initiative. The Victorian Government in collaboration with the Victorian Fisheries Authority have provided every Grade 5 student with a free kit containing a fishing rod, reel with line, tackle box with some hooks, lead-free sinkers, swivels and a lure as well as a Kids Guide to Fishing.This initiative was first successful in 2023/2024 and the aim is to encourage young children to participate in recreational fishing as it helps promote the benefits of outdoor physical activity, mindfulness and environmental conservation. Further information and videos can be found at http://www.vfa.vic.gov.au/littleanglerkit
