Thank You

A big thank you and appreciation to everyone who has reached out to offer support to Sam, Annie, Zelda and extended Castleman family during this difficult time. In the coming week we will provide more information about ways in which as a community we can further support Sam and the girls.

The students had a fantastic time at the disco! With a fun Heroes and Villains dress-up theme, everyone looked amazing. They loved dancing to their favourite songs, showing off their best moves and spending time with their friends. The room was filled with smiles, laughter and lots of energy as everyone joined in the fun.

A big thank you to all the parents and teacher volunteers who gave their time and support to help make the disco such a wonderful event. We really appreciate your help in creating such a fun and memorable experience for our students!

Scotsburn Assembly

This Friday October 23, we will hold our first Scotsburn assembly for the term. Weather permitting, we will aim for this to be held outside on the concrete. We look forward to seeing lots of parents and visitors in attendance!

Prep Pre-Schooler Program

Our Prep preschooler program is now halfway through and continues for the next 2 weeks. We have enjoyed seeing our preps building their confidence and the warm welcome from SC1. Last week, William, one of our new preps even brought in his brand new puppy Turbo. Turbo was a hit with SC1.

Prep - Grade 2 Sports Day -Thursday October 22

Please note that some important information has changed regarding our upcoming P-2 Sports Day. Students will no longer be spending the whole day at the Buninyong Campus.

Instead, students will be travelling by bus to the Buninyong Campus to participate in the sporting activities, which will begin at 12:00 pm.

After the activities have finished, students will be bused back to our campus for the usual afternoon pick-up at Scotsburn. A big thank you to Mr Conlan for getting us to and from Buninyong safely.

Speculators are encouraged to watch, please meet us at the school oval at Buninyong at 12pm.

All students please wear your house colours on the day. All students must also wear their school hat.

Thank you for your understanding and flexibility with these changes.

Grade 5/6 Sovereign Hill Excursion next week

Next Thursday and Friday (October 29 and 30) our grade 5/6 students will be involved in the Sovereign Hill two day, fully immersive, costumed school experience. As part of this program, students are in the charge of ‘Ma’am’ or ‘Sir’ who is strict, all knowing and the embodiment of 1850’s Victorian authority.

They will have the opportunity to experience colonial school life in one of the museum’s five schools: Red Hill National School,St Peter’s Denominational School, Ballarat Benevolent Asylum Ragged School, St Alipius Diggings School or Wesleyan Day School. During this experience, students will role play being a child of the 1850s at school on the goldfields, abiding by the behavioural expectations of the era.

Additional Information:

  • Full School Uniform will be required to travel to Sovereign Hill.
  • In addition to the provided 1850s costumes, students will need to provide the following:
    • Shoes – plain black or brown leather-style, preferably no zips
    • Long socks - plain white, black or grey (no logos/patterns)
    • Lunches must be in a plain paper bag with the student’s name written on it. Any modern packaging should be concealed inside.
    • Snack should be in a separate bag with name written on it.
    • Students do not need drink bottles, as water is readily available from bubble taps at the schools.

Here are some photos from the last time in 2023 when Scotsburn students attended the costume school:

Scotsburn Intercampus Travel

At times, Scotsburn students will be transported between campuses in order to attend classes, assemblies, special days and events. On most occasions, transport required through the day will be by bus and occasionally private car for smaller groups of students. Parents may be asked to drop off or collect from the Buninyong campus if sessions are at the beginning or ending of a day.

We will always let you know of any upcoming travel arrangements via our newsletter, Compass, or via phone for smaller, more specific travel arrangements.

If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding intercampus travel, please contact your child’s teacher.
