School Uniform Reminder

As the weather warms up, we'd like to remind families of our school uniform expectations and ask for your support in ensuring students are wearing the correct uniform.

In particular, a few reminders:

  • Shorts: Plain black school shorts or skorts only. Sports shorts, running shorts and shorts with visible branding are not part of our school uniform.
  • Logos: Apart from the Buninyong PS logo, clothing should be free from visible logos, brand names or markings. This includes pants, shorts and socks.
  • Jewellery: Small stud earrings are preferred for safety reasons.
  • Makeup: We ask that students do not wear makeup to school.

Our uniform helps students feel a sense of belonging and ensures consistency across the school. We appreciate families supporting these expectations.

Our full School Uniform Guidelines are available on our website.

Thank you for your ongoing support!

Keeping Our Kids Safe Online

As our children grow older, online communication becomes an increasingly important part of their social lives. While technology provides wonderful opportunities to connect with friends, it can also present challenges.

Recently, we've been following up on some concerns involving inappropriate online messages and interactions between students outside of school, particularly in our senior year levels. This is a timely reminder of the importance of regular conversations with children about online safety, respectful communication and responsible device use.

We encourage all families to take some time to check in with their children about their online activities.

  • Check devices regularly: Know which apps, games and messaging platforms your child is using. Take an interest in their group chats, messages and online interactions.
  • Talk about respectful communication: Remind children that the same expectations for kindness and respect apply online as they do face-to-face. Words can be hurtful, even when sent from behind a screen.
  • Encourage children to speak up: If something online makes them feel uncomfortable, upset or unsafe, encourage them to tell a trusted adult rather than responding or becoming involved.
  • Keep evidence: If your child receives threatening, bullying or inappropriate messages, take screenshots before blocking or reporting the account.
  • Be aware of age restrictions: Age restrictions and Australia's new under-16 social media laws are in place to help protect children from the risks associated with social media. We strongly encourage families to respect these age limits and support children to use age-appropriate platforms. These safeguards are designed to protect children's wellbeing and reduce the likelihood of exposure to inappropriate content, cyberbullying and other harmful online interactions.

While many of these interactions occur outside school hours, they can have a significant impact on friendships, relationships and wellbeing at school.

We ask parents to remain actively involved in their children's online lives. Regular check-ins, clear boundaries and open conversations can make a real difference.

If you have concerns about online interactions involving students, please don't hesitate to contact us. We're always happy to work with families to support our students.

Scott’s BMX Trick Show

Gallery Image

Last Thursday, 15 October, our Year 3–6 students were treated to an exciting performance of Scott's BMX Trick Show, presented by Regional Arts Victoria (RAV).

The show combined impressive BMX stunts, circus skills and storytelling, with important messages about persistence, resilience, creativity and never giving up.

Students were thoroughly entertained by Scott's incredible skills, with plenty of excitement and enthusiasm throughout the performance!

A big thank you to Regional Arts Victoria for providing this fantastic experience free of charge through their YEAH! fundraising campaign, made possible by the generous support of the community.

Here are a few photos from the show!

Bunjil Awards

Bunjil awards recognise student achievement and those who display our school values of being respectful, responsible and kind. Well done! All of our weekly winners enjoyed a hot chocolate or zooper dooper with a principal. This process is always a great chance for us to hear from the kids and ask them some questions about our school.
