From the Principal

Dear families,

What a wonderful term it has been, with so many events and celebrations bringing us together as a connected community.

Our Book Week Parade and Grandparents Morning was a spectacular celebration, with an incredible turnout from our families and special visitors. Ormond’s Got Talent was another highlight, showcasing the confidence, creativity and talents of our students. Seeing the whole school join together to dance to Gangnam Style at the end was certainly a moment to remember! We also can’t forget our wonderful Father’s Day Stall and morning, which provided another special opportunity to welcome families into our school.

A huge thank you to everyone who has contributed to these events throughout the term, your support is what makes these occasions so special.

Looking ahead to Term 4

Next term is already shaping up to be action-packed, and we are very excited to introduce Kinect2Dance, which will deliver our Performing Arts program throughout Term 4. We know our students will love the opportunity to learn, perform and express themselves through dance. The program will end in a whole school showcase in the final weeks of the year, stay tuned for details next term.

I would also like to extend a huge thank you to Mrs Campbell for the incredible job she has done as our Performing Arts teacher this term. We have greatly appreciated the effort and enthusiasm she has brought to the program and to our students.

Welcome to Jo Griffin

I am very excited to introduce a new member of the OPS team. Jo Griffin will join us next term as an Instructional Coach, working with our staff three days per week.

Jo brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise from her work with La Trobe University, OCHRE and The Knowledge Society. Her experience strongly complements the work already underway at OPS to strengthen evidence-informed teaching, curriculum development and high-quality classroom practice.

I am incredibly passionate about the power of coaching and believe that every teacher deserves access to high-quality professional learning, feedback and support to continually strengthen their practice. Jo will work alongside our teachers and leaders, building on the expertise already within our school and supporting our continued focus on achieving the best possible outcomes for every student.

I would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Ms Lisa Phillips for stepping into the role of Acting Assistant Principal during Mr Jones’ family leave.

Lisa has brought tremendous expertise, insight and support to OPS during her time with us. In particular, she has made a significant contribution to our curriculum planning and documentation and has worked closely with our teams to further strengthen the work already underway across the school.

We have been incredibly fortunate to have Lisa as part of our leadership team and hope she will come back and visit during Term 4 to continue the great work that has begun.

Welcome, Rosie!

Finally, I am delighted to share the wonderful news that Baby Jones #2 has arrived!

We warmly congratulate Aaron and his family on the arrival of Rosie and wish them all the very best as they enjoy this incredibly special time together.

I hope everyone enjoys a safe and restful break, and we look forward to welcoming you back for another exciting term on Monday 5th October.
