Year 1/2 Cluster News 

Here are the events and announcements for the final week of Term 2. 

GLOW Week  

F-2 activities run from Monday 22nd June – Thursday 26th June at 11.30-12.30 pm each day. Students have been told which activity they will be doing. 

Families are invited to attend the whole school Celebration on Friday 26th June at 2pm in the Worship Centre.  

Puddle SuitsFor Glow Week 

We are looking for some puddle suits or waterproof overalls to be used by the children during Glow Week. If you have some that you are no longer using and wish to donate to the school, it would be greatly appreciated. Please drop them at the front office. 

Recorders  

Mrs Ali has sent a form home about recorder lessons. All Year 1/2 students will need a recorder for Friday music lessons during Term 3. Recorders may be brought from home, purchased on Qkr! or the school has a small supply which may be borrowed.  

Please return the form by the end of term so recorders can be ordered. 

Home Inquiry   

Talk to your child about what you and/or their grandparents did in their play time when you/they were young. Ask your child to consider what is similar/the same today and what has changed e.g. Lego was simple, now there are elaborate kits with instructions. 

Reading: every night for 10-15 minutes. Please listen to your child read the decodable books and ask the ‘check for understanding’ questions at the back. The ‘Interest books' with coloured round stickers on the front may need to be read together.

Grammar Focus 

Year 1: Alphabetical order & adjectives, nouns and verbs 

Year 2: Using a dictionary & adjectives, nouns and verbs 

Christian Studies; Christian Beliefs 

Central Idea: Christians believe God is one God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. 

Students inquire into how we repair mistakes and Christian’s show forgiveness. 

Writer’s Workshop: Reviewing our goals we set earlier in the term and if have we achieved these. 

Readers Workshop: Reading for information gathering. We are exploring what we notice in our books about changes and can identify as past and present.  

Mathematics:  

Year 1 and 2: Giving and following directions 

Unit of Inquiry: Where We Are In Place and Time 

What changes have happened over time? Students begin finding out what it was like to live in the past. What was technology like? What toys did children play with?
