Term 3 Week 9

It is hard to believe that we are already nearing the end of Term 3! It has certainly been another busy and exciting term at St Mary’s, filled with wonderful learning, special celebrations and plenty of opportunities for our students to connect, participate and have fun.

There have been so many highlights throughout the term, including:

  • Welcoming our newest little learners as Mini Mary’s began
  • Our Athletics Days and students representing St Mary’s at District Athletics
  • Our Swimming Program
  • Celebrating 100 Days of Prep
  • The colour, creativity and excitement of Book Week
  • Learning about kindness, inclusion and being an upstander during Bullying No Way Week
  • Celebrating the Sacrament of Confirmation with our students, families and Parish community
  • Our wonderful Father’s Day celebrations, recognising the dads, grandfathers, uncles and special people in our students’ lives

Amongst all of these special events, our classrooms have continued to be busy places of learning and growth. I am incredibly proud of the way our students continue to embrace opportunities, challenge themselves and contribute to our school community.

I have also seen our PBL values of Respect, Responsibility and Safety shining through in everything we do.

Thank you, as always, to our wonderful staff and families who make these experiences possible. There is still plenty happening in the last two weeks before we officially say goodbye to Term 3, and I look forward to finishing the term together on a high!

A HUGE thank you to the Bendigo Bank- Community Bank Hastings and District

I am excited to share with our community that we have received (and spent!) a grant from the Bendigo Bank- Community Bank Hastings and District to support our students to have one to one devices and trolleys to store them. We have already purchased 20 Chrome books and two trolleys, all thanks to the support of the amazing staff at Bendigo Bank- Community bank Hastings. If you bank with Bendigo bank, you are part of making this possible for our community so thank you!!

We all want to say an ENORMOUS THANK YOU  to the team at the bank for supporting us to make our schools dream of one to one devices for our Year 3-6 students a reality.

Prep's Big Day Out

Our Prep students enjoyed a Big Day Out in Hastings last week where they had the opportunity to explore local places in our community. They walked to:

The Bays Aged Care - to learn about the important role aged care workers and nurses play in caring for members of our community.

Amcal Chemist - to learn about the role of pharmacists and how they help people look after their health and wellbeing.

Hastings Police Station - to meet local police officers and learn about how they help keep people safe and support our community.

Vinnies - to learn about how Vinnies supports people and families in our community and the importance of donating, reusing and helping others.

High on Fruit - to learn about the role local businesses play in our community and how they provide fresh food and other goods to local families.

Thank you to all of the wonderful people and places in our community that welcomed our littlest students into their workplaces and teaching them about what you do!
