Japanese

Students will learn words for days of the week in Japanese. Students will also learn JSL (Japanese Sign Language) for the words to explore word origins and support recall. Japanese sentence patterns with four parts will be used to describe the weather for the day, such as “Today is cloudy.”

We will also use the polite verb form to create sentences, such as “I think Tuesday might be rainy.” We will utilize flashcards and slide shows to support our learning. Students will also interact with each other in communication games which help develop fluency in our Japanese learning focus. Students will explore Japanese characters used to read and write words for the days of the week in Japanese.

Digital Technologies

Students are elevating their digital skills to prepare for higher-level research and teamwork. They are practicing advanced online tools and digital etiquette by:

Troubleshooting common technical issues independently.
Utilising Google Docs comments and suggestion modes to collaborate respectfully on shared projects.
Navigating cloud environments efficiently to manage and store complex tasks.

Whole-School Cyber Safety Focus

Across all year levels, students will participate in dedicated Cyber Safety lessons integrated throughout the term. Guided by the following values - Responsibility, Integrity, Strength, and Empathy - we will focus on:

Digital Safety, Security & Wellbeing: Protecting personal information and navigating online spaces safely
Age-Appropriate AI Literacy: Understanding how emerging technology impacts our daily lives.
Respectful Relationships: Fostering positive, considerate, and safe interactions online.

Art

The students in Years 5&6 will have the opportunity to make clay creations, using air dried clay. They will be given the chance to refresh their basic modelling skills such as rolling, pushing, flattening, twisting, breaking and pinching.

With Foundational skills of modelling already consolidated, the students will now build on this by experimenting with joining clay and making both solid and hollow shapes and structures.

The Senior students will also have the opportunity to explore different ways to add details and texture to their creations using tools appropriate for modelling work.

Physical Education

Our learning focus involves refining specialized athletic competencies, navigating complex game strategies, and managing environmental factors within student-organized competition frameworks.

Term Highlights:

Weeks 1–3: Defining court parameters for various match types, practicing baseline movement, and mastering topspin techniques and ball toss adjustments to account for outdoor weather conditions.
Weeks 4–7: Developing net-play transitions through Pickleball rules, utilizing wind-resistant equipment for Speedminton, and applying strategic lobs and drives during modified volleyball sessions.
Weeks 8–10: Executing a comprehensive ladder tournament featuring peer officiating, collaborative doubles play, and student-managed scoring systems with a focus on positive sporting behavior.
